Cocurricular Assessment
ORU Cocurricular Definition
The University has an integrated approach to cocurricular involvement, blending cocurricular activities inside and outside the traditional classroom.
Cocurricular activities and programs fall into the following two categories:

Academic Cocurricular:
- Course-embedded activities and assignments; examples may include internships, clinicals, competitions, forums, and service learning.
- Optional Participation activities and assignments; examples may include student-engaged research, academic competitions, Study Abroad, and Global Crisis Simulation Training.

Student Life Cocurricular:
Various departments in and of themselves, as well as their programs and activities, may be considered cocurricular; examples may include Athletics, Student Development, clubs and organizations, Missions, Community Outreach, and Spiritual Life.
Student experiences in cocurricular activities cultivate the development of Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through whole-person education to impact the world.

Cocurricular Assessment
Each cocurricular activity or experience is aligned with both cocurricular outcomes as well as University outcomes. Data is collected, analyzed and reflected on to determine the extent that co-curricular learning outcomes have been achieved to guide programmatic improvement and improve student learning. The assessment of cocurricular activities and experiences is completed by the responsible department.

Academic Competitions
Bold Vision
Students complete in a variety of competitions including NASA's University Student Design Challenge, the AAF's National Student Advertising Competition, and Love's Entrepreneur's Cup Competition
Athletics
Personal Resilience
Students compete in NCAA Divison I athletics in baseball, basektball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, track & field, and volleyball
Community Outreach
Global Engagement
Students serve the local community at food banks, outreach centers, children's programs and other venues.
Internships
Intellecutal Pursuit
Students work with professionals who mentor and coach them in professional best practices. They learn new tools and skills to build their resume and explore and expand their career options.
Missions
Global Engagement
Students go into all the world proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ's salvation and healing.
Professional Clubs & Organizations
Intellecual Pursuit
Students lead and participate in clubs such as the American Chemical Society of Mechanical Engineers, Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, and the LAUNCH business entrepreneur competition.
Resident Assistant
Spiritual Integrity
Resident Advisors help maintain a residential life environment that encourages residents to develop a personal lifestyle that is indicative of a strongpersonal commitment to Jesus Christ.
Student-Engaged Research
Bold Vision
Students work on a vareity of cutting edge resarch projects with talented faculty across a variety of disciplines.
Study Abroad
Global Engagement
Students travel to Paris, Bulgaria, or Australia where they complete the Travel Studies course in Humanities as well as their regular degree work.
