COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

We're so excited to have you join our incoming class of ORU Golden Eagles! Before you arrive on campus, you will need to complete the following steps listed below.

To avoid registration delays, complete any outstanding requirements prior to arriving on campus.

If you need additional assistance, reach out to your Enrollment Counselor at 918.495.6518 or admissions@oru.edu.

Your Z-number is located on your acceptance letter (ex. “Z12345678”). This is an important number and uniquely identifies you, so keep it nearby and store it in your phone, as you’ll need it throughout the registration process.

Secure your scholarships and reserve your spot in the incoming class by paying the one-time $250 Enrollment Fee. Paying this means we'll start crafting your financial aid package and class schedule. Plus, it opens up room selection for you when housing opens (the best rooms fill quickly!).

Here are three ways to pay:
  1. Securely online at go.oru.edu/pay. Log in with your Z-number and PIN (your six digit birth date, mmddyy). Once logged in, select the Deposit tab, enter your term of entry (e.g., FALL 2020) and complete your payment.
  2. Over the phone by calling 918.495.6518.
  3. Through the mail by sending a check or money order to the following address. Please write your name and Z-number on your check or money order.

If you haven’t already, it's time to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. What's a FAFSA? It's a government form used to determine if you qualify for federal aid like grants and loans. Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for or need federal aid, you’ll want to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible so we can craft a personalized financial aid offer for you. Be sure to use our school code when you complete the FAFSA: 003985.

It’s time to explore VISION and create your ORU email account. This is where you'll do everything from completing registration steps to checking grades!

  1. To access your VISION account, visit vision.oru.edu. If this is your first time logging in, select LOGIN WITH Z-NUMBER & PIN. Type your Z-number and PIN (your six digit birth date, mmddyy). This will be your password until you change it.
  2. To create your ORU email, click the PERSONAL INFORMATION tab. Next, select CREATE/UPDATE USERNAME, PASSWORD, AND E-MAIL ADDRESS. At the bottom of this screen, you will see an automated, preset email address. Delete the preset address and create your own email address. Then create a password and click submit.
  3. Wait 5-10 minutes for this to set up in the backend, then visit mail.oru.edu to log in to your ORU email account. It’s important to save this site on your phone and computer. Be sure to check your inbox often because all email communication from ORU will be sent here.

Your first semester class schedule will be created for you based on the recommended courses listed on your degree plan sheet, your acceptance status and any ACT/SAT test scores, CLEP results, AP results and any transfer credits currently on file.

After your initial semester, you may create your own schedule at vision.oru.edu. There are multiple ways to view, print, and even email your schedule.

Please note: For those enrolling in an entry level math course, a foreign language, or plan on studying music, dance, or theatre, click here to check out these extra requirements.

If you need help understanding your schedule or you want to make changes to your schedule, please email schedule@oru.edu.

COMPLETE THE HOUSING APPLICATION

Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > SELECT HOUSING

Under the New Students section, select the appropriate Housing Application (e.g., 2020-2021 Housing Application).

  • After the Welcome Page, confirm or update your information and privacy preferences.
  • On the Roommate Group page, you can invite someone to be your roommate using their last name, first name, and ORU email address. Your prospective roommate must first submit their housing application before you can pull them into your roommate group.
  • Read and sign the ORU Housing Agreement. Agree to the terms and sign the bottom of the Agreement using your ORU Z-number. Be sure to include a capital “Z” or else you won’t be able to continue! Read and check all of the checkboxes. Click the "Agree" button before going to the next page.
  • Select your preferred meal plan for the year. For more information on meal plans, visit housing.oru.edu.
  • On the Housing Application Summary page, you must select “Submit” at the bottom of the page to finish the application. Once you click “Submit,” you’ll be immediately re-directed to the Room Selection process. If not, you’ll need to wait until the Room Selection window is open.

If room and meal selection is open, you should be immediately re-directed to the Room Selection process after your complete the Housing Application. For a complete list of room and meal plan options, visit housing.oru.edu

  • Under the New Students section, select the appropriate room and meal plan selection form.
  • After the Welcome Page, you will identify and pull in a roommate. If a student is listed, that means either you or they have accepted an invitation to be a roommate from the Housing Application. Clicking the red “x” next to the student’s name will remove that roommate from your room. Clicking the “notepad” icon next to their name will allow you to search for a different student. Once you’re done with this step, click “Next.”

SELECT YOUR ROOM

Now it’s time to select a room. To search by building, select the arrow next to one of the Residence Halls available to you. This will display available Floor Sections. Click the arrow next to a preferred Floor Section to see available rooms.

There are two ways to navigate rooms:
  • To select a room in list view:  Click the YELLOW Lock icon to the right of the room. Doing this initiates a timer that makes that room unavailable to other students. Select your bed space from the drop-down. If you have a roommate, you will also need to use the other dropdown to place them in the room.
  • To select a room using map view: Select “Display Map.” Rooms and beds outlined in GREEN are available, and rooms and beds in RED are unavailable. Select an available room. If you are not in a Roommate Group, you can hover over a RED bed to see that student’s information. Only information that the student has decided to reveal will display. To select a room, click the YELLOW lock icon next to a bed. Then from the drop-down, select a room for you and your roommate if you have one. If you have Locked a room but want to select another room, you must select “Release Lock.”
  • Now it’s time to select a meal plan. Select the first GREEN plus icon. Make sure a Plan Type of “Meal” is selected in the first drop-down box. In the second drop-down box, select a meal plan. You’ll want to do this for your roommate if you have one. To lock in your selection, click the YELLOW lock. Once your selection is locked, click “Next.”
  • The final page contains a summary of your room and meal plan selection. Read through it and select “Submit” at the bottom of the page.

Please note: If you are selecting housing prior to June, your housing status may still show as incomplete when viewing your list of registration steps. This will automatically update later in the summer. If you wish to view your room selection at a later time, navigate back to "Select Housing" under "Registration Quick Links" and click on "Room and Meal Plan Selection Info."

Having health insurance is not required in order to complete registration. However, we strongly recommend you have health insurance coverage. You can contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@oru.edu for details regarding a plan available through ORU. If you currently have a valid health insurance plan, please follow the steps below.

  1. Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE >TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Click INCOMPLETE next to INSURANCE in your REGISTRATION STEPS.
  3. Please enter your insurance information then press the SUBMIT button.

If you have a HOLD on your account, please follow these steps:

  1. Once logged in to your VISION account, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE > TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Look to the right of the item labeled HOLDS. If it says NO HOLDS in BLUE, you are able to complete your registration steps. If you see HOLDS ON ACCOUNT in RED, it means you have at least one hold. Click on this RED link to view these holds. You may be able to resolve the hold yourself.
COMMON HOLDS YOU MAY SEE:
  • New Student Schedule Hold: Ignore this! All it means is that we create your schedule for you! This will not prevent you from completing registration.
  • Final HS Transcript/Test Score: We need to know you graduated! Send us an OFFICIAL, updated copy of your transcript directly to admissions@oru.edu. If you previously self-reported or submitted an unofficial copy of your test score, we need one directly from ACT or SAT. Please visit their website to access this option.
  • Student Health Hold: Schedule your physical and TB test today! You will need to print ORU's medical assesment form and bring it to your appointment for your physician to fill out. Additionally, please turn in your immunization records including a TB Skin Test (must be within 1 year prior to active enrollment). Click here to download the medical assessment.

Federal regulation requires us to maintain current and accurate address information for every student. To ensure this, your address information must be re-entered every Spring, Summer, and Fall to complete registration.

Please note: This step cannot be completed for Fall semesters until June 1.

  1. Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE >TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Click INCOMPLETE next to ADDRESS VERIFICATION in your REGISTRATION STEPS.
  3. To complete address verification, please enter your information then press the COMPLETE ADDRESS VERIFICATION button.

If you have received your Financial Aid Award offer from us, you can now select or decline individual financial aid offers as well as apply for loans as needed through VISION. To review and accept or decline financial aid offers, please follow the steps below:

  1. Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > ACCEPT YOUR FINANCIAL AID AWARDS.
  2. Select an AID YEAR (e.g., 2020-2021 Aid Year).
  3. Decide which offers to accept. Before clicking the ACCEPT AWARD OFFER tab, you'll need to click the TERMS AND CONDITIONS tab if that requirement is still incomplete.

If you are selected for Verfication, please click here for more information. You can submit requested documents directly through your Vision account using the "Secure Document Upload" tab.

Please note: As you decide which offers to accept, more requirements may be generated on VISION for you to complete. For example, Direct Loan borrowers will need to complete master promissory notes and entrance counseling. Parents applying for Direct Parent PLUS Loans also need to complete a Direct Parent PLUS Loan request and master promissory note, which are separate documents. Financial Awareness counseling is required for students who accept additional unsubsidized loans resulting from a Direct Parent PLUS Loan denial.

To comply with federal regulations, we ask you to review and sign the Student Authorization, Release and Financial Contract before your first semester. To sign this contract, please follow the steps below:

  1. Once logged in to your VISION account, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE >TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Click INCOMPLETE next to STUDENT AUTHORIZATION, RELEASE AND FINANCIAL CONTRACT.
  3. Review the information, and if you agree with the terms stated, click the box that reads, “By checking this box, I indicate that I have read and I agree to the terms of the Student Authorization, Release and Financial Contract.”

Your balance includes tuition, fees, room and board. To see if you have a remaining balance, follow the steps below:

  1. Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE >TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Look to the right of the step the item labeled BALANCE DUE. If it says NO, you are able to complete all of your registration steps.
  3. If a dollar amount is listed, then that's the remaining balance due.
If you have a balance due, please pay off your balance using verifiable financial aid, a monthly payment plan, cash, check, credit card, money order or wire transfer. You may make a payment through VISION with a credit card or electronic check (ACH) using the links listed below your registration steps. If you are an International student, we recommend Fly Wire which offers payment options with guaranteed low rates for currency conversion.

Please note: Students have the option to set up a monthly payment plan that divides your outstanding balance into monthly installments without charging interest. This plan is not financing and does not affect credit. To set up a monthly payment plan, locate the Payment Options listed underneath your registration steps on Vision. Select Option 1 "Enroll in a Monthly Payment Plan.

Once you have finished all of the steps above, it's time to finalize your registration. Follow the instructions below to complete this last step:

  1. Once logged in to VISION, select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE >TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. If you see any items in RED, that means they are incomplete and required (use the instructions in the steps above for help). Items in GREEN are optional.
  3. If all of your steps are BLUE or GREEN, select INCOMPLETE next to REGISTRATION. Once you're done, we'll send you a copy of your registration worksheet to your ORU email address. Double-check the worksheet in your email or  VISION to make sure it says COMPLETE and keep the completed worksheet for your records.
  4. Once done, see below for additional actions you may need to do next.

NOTE FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: International students must check in with the International Admissions Office when they arrive on campus before their registration can be finalized. If all registration steps are complete, including payment arrangements, but you are delayed in arriving, please contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@oru.edu or 918.495.6370 for a temporary completion to avoid the late registration fee pending your international check-in.

This year, we've made things a little bit easier for you by participating in the Follett Access Program, which will provide you with all of your textbook materials for a flat fee of $355 per semester. Here is what you need to know:

  • All full-time residential undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the program and the $355 fee is automatically applied to their student account.
  • Learning materials will be a combination of hard copy and digital texts (online or graduate level course materials will not be included).
  • Students can opt out of the program, if they desire, but cannot opt back in until the next semester.
  • All hard copy texts acquired through the program must be returned to the bookstore the week after final exams each semester.

Please note: Students must complete their fall registration in order to be permitted to pick up their course materials. In order to facilitate social distancing, students will  reserve a time slot for Saturday, August 8, or Mon-Thurs, August 10-13, when they can come to the Bookstore to pick up their materials.

PS. You should also pick up your FitBit at the Bookstore as another element of your course materials.

If you see a math course on your new student schedule, other than MAT 099, you should plan to take a mathematics placement assessment during New Student Orientation.

When: Monday, August 10, from 2:30-4:30 PM
Where: Zoppelt Auditorium
*Please bring your personal computer

What is this for?

To ensure you enroll in the most appropriate mathematics course for you, ORU requires students to take an ALEKS Placement Assessment.

ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) is an innovative, artificially intelligent assessment and adaptive learning system; the assessment uses open-response questioning to rapidly and accurately assess each student on a wide range of course material in 30 questions or less.

The ALEKS Placement Assessment is available online using ORU Single Sign-On. It covers material from Basic Math through Precalculus and will take approximately 90 minutes to complete.

All degree programs at ORU require some level of foreign language. Bachelor of Arts degrees require a minimum of six credit hours, and Bachelor of Science degrees typically require three credits. Other degrees (BFA, BSW, etc.) vary.  If you have additional questions, please contact the ORU English and Modern Languages Department at 918-495-6774.

If you have prior knowledge of one of the languages we offer (Arabic, Chinese, French, Modern Hebrew, or Spanish)* and need to determine what level to start at, we can help you. For French and Spanish, you can take an online placement test. For Arabic, Chinese or Hebrew, please contact the English and Modern Languages Department for placement. Here are some other guidelines to keep in mind:

  • If you have no prior classwork in your chosen language, you will start at the 101 level.
  • If you are transferring foreign language credit to ORU from another college or university, your placement will be determined by how much credit you received from that institution. Please contact the English and Modern Languages Department.
  • If you have any prior classwork in your chosen language (but not college credit), you must take the placement test before enrolling in a foreign language course. Follow these steps to access the test. The placement test costs $10:
    • Follow this link: https://oru.edu/language-test.
    • Create an account. If you don’t have an ORU ID number, you can use any number, but choose one you will remember.
    • Click “Create Account.”
    • You will be prompted to login using your email and password.
    • Choose either the French or Spanish placement test, then continue to through the payment steps.
  • Once you have taken the placement test, you will need to send a screenshot of your score to the ORU English and Modern Languages Department (dperdue@oru.edu), and you will be placed in the correct class.

*Please note: ASL (American Sign Language) does not fulfill ORU’s foreign language requirement; it can be taken as an elective, however.
