STEPS TO Enroll in ORU’s Advantage Program

Follow the steps below to start earning college credit, while you are still in high school, online or on ORU’s campus as early as next semester. For help, connect with us at advantage@oru.edu or 918.495.6518.

Step 1: Sign Up for Advantage Courses

If you are new to ORU’s Advantage Program or have taken a semester or more off, then your first step is to sign up by completing a quick online application (there’s no fee).

While completing the application form, please select “Dual Enrollment” when prompted to select a program and select all course(s) in which you want to be enrolled.

Once you submit an application, we’ll email your high school counselor a link to complete the High School Approval Form. Parents can complete this form if you are a homeschool student. Once we receive your High School Approval Form, we’ll process your application, connect with you and enroll you in classes. It’s that easy!

Step 2: Complete Registration and Payment

After we’ve processed your application, your Advantage Enrollment Counselor will send you an email with instructions on how to access and complete registration and payment, along with helpful tips on accessing books and our online learning platform, Desire2Learn (D2L).

How to Complete Registration and Payment:

In your welcome email from your Advantage Enrollment Counselor, you will receive your Z-number (ex. “Z12345678”). Your Z-number uniquely identifies you, so keep it nearby and store it somewhere secure.

Now that you’ve accessed your Z-number, it’s time to explore VISION and create your ORU email account. VISION is where you’ll access registration steps and view your class schedule.

  1. To access your VISION account, visit vision.oru.edu. If this is your first time logging in, select LOGIN WITH Z-NUMBER & PIN.
  2. Type your Z-number and PIN (your six digit birth date, mmddyy). This will be your password until you change it.
  3. To create your ORU email, select the following:
    > PERSONAL INFORMATION
    > CREATE/UPDATE USERNAME, PASSWORD, AND E-MAIL ADDRESS.
  4. At the bottom of this screen, you will see an automated, preset email address. Delete the preset address and create your desired email address. Then create a password and click submit.
  5. Please allow 5-10 minutes after the creation of your email to synchronize with our system. Then visit mail.oru.edu to login to your ORU email account. It’s important to check your inbox often since all email communication from ORU will be sent to this address from this point forward.

Note: After you create your ORU email address, you can login to your VISION account using “LOGIN WITH USERNAME AND PASSWORD.” Your username is your ORU email address without “@oru.edu.”

You will need to verify your address every semester.

  1. Log in to VISION and select:
    > REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS
    > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE
    > TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
    > INCOMPLETE next to ADDRESS VERIFICATION
  2. Enter your information then press the COMPLETE ADDRESS VERIFICATION button.

Note: You CAN complete address verification even if some of the fields are red.

  1. Log in to VISION and select:
    > REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS
    > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE
    > TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
    > INCOMPLETE next to STUDENT AUTHORIZATION, RELEASE AND FINANCIAL CONTRACT.
  2. Review the information. If you agree with the terms stated, check the box and submit.

Your Advantage Enrollment Counselor will enroll you in the course(s) you selected on your Advantage application or communicated via phone or email. If you’d like to add or remove courses from your schedule, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at advantage@oru.edu or 918.495.6518.

After logging in to VISION, there are multiple ways to view your class schedule:

  • Option 1: Select STUDENT SERVICES AND FINANCIAL AID
    > STUDENT PROFILE
    or
    > REGISTRATION
    > STUDENT DETAIL SCHEDULE or STUDENT SCHEDULE BY DAY AND TIME
  • Option 2: Select REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS
    > STUDENT PROFILE
    or
    > STUDENT DETAIL SCHEDULE

Once your class schedule is final, you will need to submit your payment prior to the start of the semester.

To view your balance, do the following:

  1. Log in to VISION and select the following:
    > REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS
    > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE
    > TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
  2. Your account balance will be listed to the right of BALANCE DUE. If it says NO, then you do not need to make further payment for the semester.

Complete payment using one of the following method:

  • Securely Online: Log in to VISION and select:
    > REGISTRATION QUICK LINKS
    > REGISTRATION STEPS/ONLINE BOOKSTORE
    > TERM OF ENTRY (e.g., FALL 2020).
    > PAY ONLINE (Under Payment Options)
  • Over the Phone: Call 918.495.6370
  • In Person: Visit ORU’s Office of Student Accounts, Graduate Center (Campus Map)

Step 3: Navigate Your Classes on D2L

Once you’ve completed registration, you can access your course information using Desire2Learn (D2L), an online learning management platform used by ORU faculty and students.

You’ll use D2L to access course resources like syllabi, calendars, and assignments, submit homework, post discussion responses, take quizzes, view grades and more. If you have any problems accessing D2L, contact the D2L Helpdesk at d2lhelp@oru.edu.

Visit d2l.oru.edu and log in using the same username and password you use for VISION.

Once logged in, select your course from the list labeled “My Courses” on your main dashboard. From there, you can navigate the different tabs at the top of your course’s page.

Once you select a specific course, you can navigate the different resources in the course by using the tabs at the top of the page. Here are brief descriptions of the most used tabs:

  • Course Home Page: Where professors post class-wide announcements.
  • Content: This is the hub of most course information like your syllabus, course schedule, and assignments broken down by week.
  • Assessments: This tab is where you’ll attach assignments to dropbox, access quizzes, and view grades.
  • Communication: From posting discussion questions to emailing classmates, this tab is a helpful resource for student and faculty interaction.
  • Classlist: Quickly view who’s in the class with you.
University Links: Quickly redirect to other important ORU links like VISION or the ORU bookstore.

Step 4: Access Your Books

ORU partners with our Follett Campus Bookstore to offer a program called Follett Access, where you will have the ability to find and use your course ebooks via download links in D2L. To access your ebook, click on the “Content” tab. Then, click “Start Here.” You will be charged a Follett Access “Textbooks and Course Materials Fee” for each course you take, and will pay this at the start of each semester, as part of your registration steps.
