Oral Roberts University (“ORU”) provides the following information relating to your privacy when using websites in the www.oru.edu domain. This privacy policy covers all oru.edu websites unless otherwise indicated on a specific website.

ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY NOTICE

 ORU is committed to respecting the privacy of every visitor to our website. This Online Privacy Policy Notice (“Notice”) discusses the types of information collected and recorded by ORU when you visit ORU’s main website (www.oru.edu) and other websites that we own, control, link or refer to this Notice (the “Sites”). This Notice explains how we use and process the information as well as the choices that are available to you regarding the use of the information you provide.

Unless otherwise indicated on a specific Site, ORU is the data controller for all information collected under this Notice. Contact information for ORU is listed at the end of this Notice.

Personal Information We Collect and Process

Log Files. Oral Roberts University follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this as a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable, so your identity will remain anonymous. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website and gathering demographic information.

Disclosure of Personal Information.  We share your information internally at ORU to facilitate and manage the purposes listed above. This includes third parties whom ORU engages to process your information on our behalf for the purposes stated above, such as vendors who help ORU with our marketing, application processing, and web hosting. ORU may also share your personal data with government and law enforcement agencies or regulators to 1.) comply with a legal process, subpoena, order or other legal or regulatory requirement applicable to us; 2.) to federal, state, or local law enforcement authorities; 3.) enforce our terms of use or other policies; 4.) to detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security, technical issues or unauthorized access to ORU’s information technology assets; 5.) pursue available legal remedies or defend against legal claims; or 6.) other third parties as you may so request or permitted by this and other ORU policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Protecting Children’s Privacy: ORU does not knowingly collect or maintain Personally Identifiable Information on our Site from persons under 13 years of age, and no part of our Site is directed to persons under 13 years of age.  If you are under 13 years of age, ORU requests that you do not use or access this Site.  ORU will take appropriate steps to delete any Personally Identifiable Information of persons less than 13 years of age that has been collected on our Site without verified parental consent upon learning of the existence of such information.

Controlling Your Personal Information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:   

  • If you decide you no longer want to share your personal information or need to update it, you may inform us at any time at webmaster@oru.edu or marketing@oru.edu.   
  • Any complaints you have regarding the storage of your personal information can be made by emailing us at webmaster@oru.edu.  
  • We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law. 

Generally, the information we collect will be retained for a period of one year. At or possibly before that point, the administrators will permanently delete your information from our database and upon your next visit to the site you will be prompted to “accept” or “decline” the conditions again

Further, the disclosure of information, including personal information, collected through this website is subject to the provisions of the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act and any other applicable law, rule or regulation. 

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you. A small fee will be payable. Online Privacy Policy Only. This Privacy Policy only applies to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information they shared and/or was collected by ORU. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.
