Room Selection FAQs

How many times can I go through the process to make sure I get the room I want?

You are allowed to go through the room selection process and confirm a room only once.  Rooms not confirmed within the 5-minute lock window are released back to the available room pool. Once the process is complete, the room is locked. After the drop/add period ends, students who wish to change rooms may use the "open room change" process. For further information, please contact the Concierge Residential Services Office directly at 918-495-7711 or schedule an appointment here.

I don't have a specific roommate in mind for next year.  Will Residential Services assign me one at random?

No.  Only student leaders chosen by program leaders can get assigned rooms by Residential Services. But you can choose your own space and take a chance with a roommate who chooses the other space in the room. Or you can invite a potential roommate using the Roommate Request/Roommate Pull-In function. Once they accept, you can use the Roommate Pull-In function. You can pull in roommates anytime as long as the other space is still available.

How do I know if a room is a double or a suite?

Only residence halls and rooms that are available to you will appear in the rooms list and on the floor maps. The seventh floor of Claudius and EMR has a limited number of suites. NOTE: On a first-come, first-served basis and subject to space availability, private rooms can be selected during the Room Change period after drop/add. You are welcome to schedule an appointment or contact the Concierge Office at 918-495-7711.  The Room Change periods for fall 2026 are September 1-4.

Are there any rooms that have private bathrooms?

Floors 1 and 2 in Gabrielle and floors 1, 2, and 3 in Niko Hall are the only floors on campus with private bathrooms. Please refer to the Rate Table for the per-semester charges for all rooms.

I'm over 23 and a graduate student. Is there on-campus housing available for me?

If you are 23 years old or older, a graduate student, or a part-time student, you may request an exception to live on campus. However, prior to participating in the online room selection process, you must submit a Petition for Policy Exception and receive approval. If you fall into one of these categories, you can choose a room on one of the designated wings for non-traditional students. Please note that space for non-traditional students is limited and not guaranteed. For assistance, please email the Concierge office at concierge@oru.edu.

What will happen if I don't agree to the Housing Terms and Conditions?

You must first agree to the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Agreement before proceeding to the room selection step. Once you agree, there might be a brief delay while the system processes your record and updates your application status. If you have any questions about the Terms and Conditions, please contact the Concierge Residential Services Office at (918) 495-7711.

I'm an Honors student and want to live on an Honors floor. Can I do that online, or do I have to go through Housing to get my room?

Honor students can select a room on one of the Honor floors using the same room selection schedule. In order to select a room on an Honor's floor, you must be an Honor's student. If you are an Honor's student but the Honor's floors are not appearing, please contact Admissions to make sure your status as an Honor's student has been updated. If you are a student who currently lives on an Honors floor and wish to stay on that floor, you can retain your current room. If you are a non-Honor's student wishing to select a room on an Honor's floor, please contact the Concierge Residential Services Office at (918) 495-7711.

I am a student-athlete/student leader. How will I know my room has been assigned by Housing?

After a student athlete or student leader completes the application process and updates their meal plan preferences, Concierge will begin assigning rooms. To further review your room/board status for the current academic year, VISION >> Select Housing>> Login on Starez Portal >> Select Housing Application to view your room and meal plan bookings and any, if applicable, roommate information. If you have questions, please contact the Concierge Office at 918-495-7711 or concierge@oru.edu. You are welcome to visit our office on LRC3.  Schedule an appointment here.

I am a student athlete but would like to live somewhere other than the block of rooms reserved for my team. How do I select a room?

Athletes wishing to live outside the designated team block of rooms must obtain their coach's permission. The coach must send an email to concierge@oru.edu allowing the student to live in a room other than the designated rooms. Once the Concierge Office receives permission, an adjustment will be made to the student's housing application, allowing the student to select a room through the general room selection process. You must complete the online application portion first before this adjustment can be made. Type studenthousing.oru.edu in the web browser to access the online housing application.
