Segment 1 (1968-79): 1 Opening

Bill Middleton
Bill Middleton '74

In the fall of 1970, I transferred to ORU from a small college in Iowa and my life forever changed. I got saved, filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and met DeLois Sadler who became my wife in 1973; both of us graduated in 1974. I retired in 2021 after a 42-year career as an Agent with State Farm Insurance, having earned the professional designations of CFP, ChFC, and CLU. I have always been actively involved in my church and community: 10+ years Public School Board member, 25+ years Planning & Zoning Commission, 15+ years Eastern OK Workforce Board, plus various advisory academic and sports booster clubs. I am a past recipient of State Farm's Volunteer of the Year Award for the State of Oklahoma. However, our major focus has always been to serve as lay workers in our local church. Carbondale Assembly of God has been our home church for the past 29 years, where I have served on the Church Board; as treasurer, teacher, and choir member; and on the Foreign Missions team. We are blessed to be ORU Legacy parents and grandparents. Three of our four children attended ORU, and our two oldest granddaughters are current ORU students. DeLois and I, plus all of our family (4 children and spouses + 9 grandchildren), live within 10 miles of the university and are all very invested in helping ORU remain true to the mission upon which it was founded. DeLois and I are 10+-year members of the President's Circle and members of the Golden Eagle Club. I also had the privilege of serving on the Alumni Board from 2012 to 2014. I would appreciate the opportunity to serve you and ORU as your active representative on the ORU Alumni Board.

David Smith
David Edward Smith '71

David, a 1971 ORU graduate, has dedicated his life to ministry through theatre arts, with experience in performing, teaching, directing, design, and set construction. He toured with Living Sound from 1974 to 1977 with ORU alumni Terry Law and Larry Dalton, who are now in Heaven. He has been licensed with the Assemblies of God of Northern California and Nevada since 1978 and earned his Master of Theatre Arts from San Jose State University in 1979. Now a professor emeritus, David served as an Associate Professor of Theatre at Evangel University from 1980 to 2013. David met his wife of 54 years, Susan Miller Smith, at ORU. She was a member of the World Action Singers in the early 1970s. David and Susan performed and ministered together for Assemblies of God churches and parachurch organizations for 37 years.

Segment 2 (1980-89): 1 Opening

Renee (Miller) Langdon
Renee (Miller) Langdon '86

Renee Langdon, a 1986 ORU graduate, is an accomplished insurance and financial services professional with 40 years of industry experience—nearly 30 of those years with State Farm Insurance, where she is still active. With State Farm, Renee served in various corporate leadership and field management roles before becoming an agency owner. Today, Renee leads a State Farm agency in The Woodlands, TX, where she is passionate about helping her customers protect what matters most and plan for their future. Outside of work, Renee is a devoted wife and mother of two daughters. She is actively involved in her church, teaches "Financial Peace University," and is on the board of directors for Mission Catalyst International. She enjoys spending time with her family, travel, and exercise. She is honored to be considered for the Alumni Board, and if elected, would bring her leadership experience and heart for service to support ORU in this capacity.

Donald G. "Skip" Mondragon
Donald G. “Skip” Mondragon ’81, ’85-MD

Skip took Oral's imperative to go into everyman's world by serving in the U.S. Army for 26 years and throughout his medical career. During his time at ORU, where he earned two degrees (’81, ’85-MD), Skip was an academic chairman, a regular at Friday Night Communion, and won 3 titles each in intramural powerlifting and wrestling. He is semi-retired from medicine and enjoys public speaking, coaching, and is an unofficial amateur wrestling aficionado. Skip is active in his local church as lay reader, prayer leader, and Lay Eucharistic Minister. One of the main reasons Skip wants to serve on the Alumni Board is to advocate for the faculty because of the strong relationships he's forged with faculty members and the profound impact they had on his life. Skip wants generations of ORU students to enjoy these kinds of relationships. He's convinced that ORU will only remain as strong and vibrant as its faculty. Skip's true claim to fame is his wife of 44 years, Sherry, who has endured far too many moves and overlooks his many idiosyncrasies, along with his 5 independent and contributing adult children and his 6 grandchildren, with number 7 on the way. And as Skip says, "May the LORD add to his tribe."
