All rooms on campus come furnished with a bed, desk, desk chair, and a dresser per resident. In Claudius, EMR, Susie Vinson, and Susie North the desks, dressers, and closets are built-in as part of the permanent room structure. In Frances and Michael all of the furniture is movable allowing the student maximum flexibility in arranging their room for the year. In Gabrielle, students living on the 1st or 2nd floor will have all movable furniture while students residing on the 3rd floor will have a built-in dresser, full closet, and 1 built-in desk. All residence hall rooms come with a university provided Microfridge unit (combination refrigerator, freezer, and microwave unit appropriate for residence hall use), a wastebasket, and most rooms have mirrors.
ORU strives to maintain its residence halls to be of the highest quality. In order to maintain that, it is, at times, necessary to charge residents for the repair and replacement of items within the room if they are damaged during the course of the year by actions that would be considered outside of normal wear and tear. Please note this list includes the most common types of damages and repairs needed and their associated charge but it is not to be considered exhaustive and it is subject to change.

COMMUNITY COMMON AREA
At ORU, community is a very important aspect of the residential life component of your experience. With that in mind, all members of a given wing or community are responsible for the condition of common areas and furnishings in those areas.
Student Development and Housing will work diligently to determine the responsible individual(s) to assess damage charges accordingly. In the event where this cannot be determined, the community will share the responsibility and cost. Individuals will be assessed a flat common area damage fee PLUS the repair and/or replacement cost (minimum $25).
The most common of these are listed below. Please refrain from activities that may result in any of these damages.

FIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT
ORU takes the safety and security of all residents in on-campus housing very seriously. This includes ensuring that all fire safety equipment is in proper working order at all times. Local and state fire code states the following: It shall be unlawful for any person to remove, tamper with or otherwise disturb any fire hydrant, fire detection and alarm system, fire suppression system or other fire appliance. Anyone found tampering with or misusing ANY fire safety device is subject to a $500.00 fine, university disciplinary action, and possible criminal charges.
Individuals or wings found to be in violation of this are subject to the minimum fine above plus damages and other appropriate student conduct sanctions. This includes, but is not limited to the following equipment: Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, sprinkler heads and caps, fire exit doors and alarms, fire alarms and strobe alerts, and fire pull stations. As with common area furniture and equipment, if the individual responsible for tampering with or misusing any of the above cannot be pinpointed, the floor will share the responsibility with the $500.00 fine being assessed PER RESIDENT.
