At ORU, we recognize the significant impact of the femaile veterans and military spouses. Our veterans’ anchor points come from God first, closely followed by our spouse and family. The military spouse population has been long overlooked, and ORU is committed to providing awareness of opportunities with local, regional and national resources to assist the military spouse in transitioning from a military lifestyle to an academic and civilian one.

Female Veterans comprise less than 9% of our veteran population and medical resources for this community lag behind thier male counterparts. Clinical students from ORU's Anna Vaughn School of Nursing developed a resource specifically for Tulsa-area and online student female veterans. Click here for more info.

At ORU Military Spouses are invited to join and serve in our Student Veterans & Family Member Association. Your experience, wisdom, and empathy are the perfect fit for our student veterans. As members, you will be part of the veteran family and help support each other as well as build awareness of veterans throughout the ORU family. Additionally, we have made resources available to you below.

Military spouses serving in professions with occupational license requirements face special challenges. They experience gaps in employment and costly interruptions in their career trajectory due to frequent relocations. It is the policy of the U.S. Department of Labor to reduce employment barriers and enhance career opportunities for military spouses.

Many states support military spouse license recognition options by allowing for expedited applications, temporary licenses, or complete license recognition. Use the Military Spouse Interstate License Recognition Options map to find out the rights of a military spouse.
