Program Overview
Oral Roberts University’s Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree is a residential or virtual program that can equip you to become an effective and skilled Spirit-empowered pastor, evangelist, chaplain, Bible teacher and minister. You can graduate prepared with the biblical, theological and practical competencies required to fulfill your calling and impact the world for Jesus Christ.

This program offers two optional concentrations:
- Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy (PCC) concentration will equip you to receive Board Certification for military, hospital, institutional or organizational chaplaincy
- Addictions Counseling concentration will prepare you to provide support to individuals in recovery for alcoholism or other types of drug addiction.
Goals of the Master of Divinity Program:
- Prepare students to interpret the biblical writings in the Greek or Hebrew languages, using critical exegetical tools.
- Provide a basic knowledge of the key movements and figures, and their significance in the history of Christianity.
- Provide a basic knowledge of the contents and methods of Christian theology.
- Equip students with the biblical, theological, and ethical undertanding necessary to analyze and discuss contemporary social issues affecting the church and society.
- Provide opportunities to develop necessary skills for ministry within a variety of traditions, ministry settings, and cross-cultural contexts.
- Enable students to develop and articulate a theology and theory of ministry that is relevant to their backgrounds and callings.
- Promote a biblical/theological understanding of the person, work, and ministry of the Holy Spirit.

How long will it take me to graduate?
This program is 73.5 credit hours. If you were to begin without advanced standing, transferring credit or taking leveling courses, you could complete this degree in as little as 3 years when you enroll full-time. We consider full-time enrollment for this program as 9 or more credit hours in each the fall and spring semesters and 6 or more credit hours over the summer.
What about accreditation?
As a university, we meet the accreditation standards set by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This program, offered by our Graduate School of Theology and Ministry, is also accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).
Are there scholarships available?
