ORU students will follow the Quantitative Literacy/Statistics Sequence in Math or the Calculus Sequence. Your degree plan will specify which sequence to follow.
Next, find your score in the pertinent table below to see which Math course you should register for.
IMPORTANT - Once a student is placed in a certain class and begins the sequence, they may not take ALEKS PPL again to “skip” a class in that sequence. If they place in a class and take the class, then they need to contine to take the next class in the sequence.
Quantitative Literacy/Statistics Sequence
ALEKS-PPL Score | Mathematics Placement |
0-29 | MAT 099 - Introduction to College Mathematics |
30-49 | MAT 231 - Essentials for Statistics & MAT 232 - Elementary Statistics (*co-requisites) |
50-100 | MAT 232 - Elementary Statistics |
The alternative is to take MAT 232 - Elementary Statistics as a single course for 3 credit hours.
Calculus Sequence
ALEKS-PPL Score | Mathematics Placement |
0-29 | MAT 099 - Introduction to College Mathematics |
30-45 | MAT 107 - Essentials for College Algebra & MAT 105 - College Algebra (*co-requisites) |
46-60 | MAT 105 - College Algebra |
61-75 | MAT 106 - Trigonometry |
76-100 | MAT 201 - Calculus I |
*Co-requisites mean you will enroll in both courses during a single semester for a total of 4 credit hours. (During actual enrollment, please be sure to enroll in MAT 105 first, or the system won't let you register for MAT 107 at all.)
