ABOUT STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (DISABILITY SERVICES)
ORU Student Support Services is committed to fostering an inclusive campus where all students can fully participate in academic and campus life. We coordinate individualized accommodations that support access, independence, and academic progress.
Location
The Disability Services Office is located on the second floor of the Learning Resources Center (LRC):
- LRC 218C – Monitored testing room for students approved for extended time or reduced-distraction testing
- LRC 218D – Main Student Support Services office
Requesting Accommodation
Students seeking academic, housing, or physical accommodations should contact Disability Services using the information above. We partner with students, faculty, and staff to ensure appropriate access based on documented needs.
Our Commitment to Access
Student Support Services operates in compliance with:
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
We facilitate reasonable accommodations tailored to each student’s circumstances.
Common Accommodations
Accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
- Extended time on exams
- Reduced-distraction testing environments
- Flexibility in attendance for disability-related absences
- Adapted HPE courses
- Other reasonable adjustments to policy, determined on an individual basis
Additional Services
Through our office, students may also:
- Receive consultation on disability-related questions and campus access
- Register assistance animals in accordance with university policy
Please note: Under ADA and Section 504, ORU is not required to provide personal services, such as transportation to campus or classes, personal attendants, or assistance with personal hygiene.
Renewal of Accommodations
Accommodations must be renewed each semester by making an appointment via emailing disabilityservices@oru.edu to notify our office of the student's desire to renew accommodations. Students are encouraged to renew early to ensure continuity of services.
