FAQ

Room Selection Procedures

1. New Students

• Upon acceptance to ORU, students can access the online Housing application. To submit your housing application and select your room, please choose one of the following options:

1.    Log into your Vision account>select Registration Quick Links> click on the “Select Housing” tile. This will take you to the housing portal page of housing. Review the home page tutorial and select Housing Application in the toolbar.

2.    Type studenthousing.oru.edu in the web browser. This option takes you directly to the portal. Review the tutorial and then select “Housing Application.”

·         Students can see the other occupant in the room during room selection by selecting “show room info”.

·         To select a roommate, type the student's screen name on the roommate search page on the Portal. The preferred roommate must create a screen name on the housing application roommate profile page. Review the Housing Application and Room Selection tutorial for further instructions.

·         Students will select a residential meal plan as part of the housing application and room selection process.

·         Once a student has finished the room and meal plan selection process, they return to the housing application page and select to continue to review the dorm, room number, meal plan, and roommate if the second bed space is occupied.

·         Following the last registration day, any space reserved but not occupied by the student will be canceled unless an exception has been granted for late arrival.

·         Students who check into their room and fail to officially check out before vacating the residence halls will continue to accrue their room and meal plan charges.

·         Students must email the Concierge Office to cancel their housing and meal plans.

2. Returning Students

• A room selection schedule will be provided for all current students before spring break.

• Students will select their rooms and meal plans online according to the location where they would like to live. Students wishing to retain their current rooms will be given priority, followed by students who do not have the option of retaining their current room, students wishing to move rooms within the same residence hall, and then students wanting to move to a different residence hall.

• Individual occupants of double rooms will be required to consolidate in accordance with room assignments.

3. Summer Housing

During the summer months, ORU reserves the right to close off sections of residence halls and require students to change rooms to accommodate scheduled maintenance. Those individuals residing in University housing during the summer are subject to all University policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. This includes dress code, Honor Code, curfew, and sign-out.

Students under age 23 who are enrolled in summer school classes must reside in the residence halls unless they can live at home with their parents. No board plan is offered during the summer, and private rooms are limited.

Summer residents must move to their assigned rooms for fall during the week before the arrival of new students on campus unless otherwise designated by the Concierge Residential Services office.
