MISSIONS AND OUTREACH - ORU Missions
The ORU Missions & Outreach office allows students to put their faith into action by serving in local and international contexts. The office's goal is to be a strategic, short-term investment into long-term Kingdom work in the city of Tulsa and in the world's nations. The office has two primary focuses: local outreach in Tulsa and sending teams to serve with our various mission contacts. These offices are under the direction of the Associate Director of Spiritual Life.
- Outreach: The office believes in serving our city in ways that would make a long-term difference in the Tulsa community. Students can engage their passions and what they are learning in their major by going on an outreach team that serves weekly with our local ministry contacts. There are various types of outreach ministry, including feeding people experiencing homelessness, mentoring kids, after-school programs, food distribution, gardening, and more.
- Missions: The office provides students the valuable opportunity to share their faith and represent Jesus in the world's nations. Students can apply to be on a team of students who will go and serve our trusted ministry contacts. There are typically 30+ locations, with a wide range of ministry outlets, including kids' ministry, water projects, evangelism, labor-intensive, soccer, basketball, refugee care, business development, medical outreach, and much more.

SPIRITUAL LIFE - Spiritual Life
The Director of Spiritual Life provides opportunities for students to grow spiritually and mature into whole persons who can effectively impact their generation. The Spiritual Life Director is directly involved in the planning, coordination, and management of all ORU Chapel services, leading the Chapel Offering Committee, assisting with creative elements in Chapel, and serving guest speakers. The Spiritual Life Director serves as direct oversight for the Men’s and Women’s Chaplain Coordinators. Additionally, serving the Office of the President as requested for various events, trips, and tasks throughout the year.
- Chaplain Coordinators—The Men’s Chaplain Coordinator & the Women’s Chaplain Coordinator oversee the spiritual health of the male and female students at Oral Roberts University as part of the Spiritual Life and Student Development departments. This is accomplished primarily through the Chaplain Program. Other venues to facilitate spiritual growth are structured leadership accountability, leadership training, retreats, discipleship groups, prayer meetings, and various ways of serving in chapel services. They both work very closely with the Dean and Associate Dean of Student Engagement to support the Resident Advisor Program with spiritual accountability for students. The Men’s Chaplain Coordinator & Women’s Chaplain Coordinator also oversee the Prayer Tower student workers, the Prayer Tower prayer rooms, and Church Rush, and serve at various events as directed. They are actively involved in department team meetings and prayer meetings and are involved in various ORU committees.
STUDENT EXPERIENCE – oversees The Student Association, Clubs & Organizations, E-Sports & Intramurals
- Student Association- The Student Association (SA) is organized for all ORU students so that they may
take an active and meaningful role in the decision-making processes of ORU and in
promoting the founding purpose of the University. SA seeks to provide an extraordinary
experience, create community, and provide life-changing leadership for the students
of ORU. This is done to encourage school spirit and individual growth among students.
- The SA is led by an elected student president, student vice president, and student executives for Events, Marketing, Operations, Intramurals, and Clubs & Organizations. In addition, approximately 30 staff members work within SA, assisting each distinct office. The SA election takes place each spring in a campus-wide election. Any full-time qualified student may run as a candidate for office. SA staff hiring occurs late in the spring semester and is open to any interested student. There are many ways to be involved in SA: participating in committees, attending SA events, joining an SA club, or participating in intramural sports. Stop by the SA offices in the Hammer Center to learn more about opportunities for involvement.
- Clubs and Organizations -There are many opportunities to get involved at ORU. All clubs and organizations at ORU must be registered and sanctioned by the ORU Student Association (SA). Each club must renew its sanction annually through SA. Registration entitles clubs to hold meetings on campus, sponsor events, and raise funds as needed. Registered groups also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Club Rush sponsored by the SA. More information concerning clubs and organizations is available in the SA offices in the Armand Hammer Alumni Student Center or by calling 918.495.6962. A list of sanctioned clubs and organizations at ORU is available in the SA offices and the ORU App under the Clubs & Organizations tile. Clubs are open to all ORU students without discrimination. Some organizations that are specialized in nature require students to achieve specified goals before admission. All club and organization activities and events are subject to the approval of the respective advisors and Student Development. Any member of any organization or club who is insubordinate to the advisor is subject to dismissal from that club or organization. For a current list, please see sa.oru.edu.
- E-Sports- Esports
- Students can apply to be involved in the E-Sports program, which empowers students to represent Oral Roberts University through various games in officially certified league tournaments with other competing universities. Student leaders within this program are eligible to receive a scholarship for their active participation. Please get in touch with the Student Association at 918-495-7727 for more information on how to get involved.
- Intramurals- Intramurals
- The Intramurals Program at ORU organizes and facilitates several competitive recreational activities for the student body. Male and female students organize teams throughout the academic year to participate in these activities. Students participate voluntarily. Intramurals offers various levels of competition, from recreational to competitive leagues. The sporting activities may include flag football, volleyball, sand volleyball, ultimate frisbee, racquetball, disc golf, badminton, 3-on-3 basketball, 3-on-3 soccer, softball, and more. The Intramurals Office is a part of the Student Association and is assisted by student leadership support staff. These students help coordinate and oversee all sporting activities. The Intramurals Office also provides additional opportunities for current students in referee and field staff positions. Intramurals continue to be the highest-rated campus activity among the student body. Most of the participation is among students living in the residence halls. Participants include faculty members, graduate students, commuter students, and ORU alums. Each individual participates in intramurals at their own risk of injury. ORU takes no responsibility for any injuries sustained while participating.
