Developing Whole Leaders for the whole World

U.S. Schools

Transfer credit is based on the Transfer Guidelines established by ORU. Courses that do not have an ORU equivalent but are academic in nature are counted as elective credit. To obtain approval to bring these elective classes in as a specific ORU class, students will need to complete a Petition to Transfer with an attached course description or syllabus at petitions.oru.edu.

Students who have matriculated at ORU and desire to take courses offered at other institutions are strongly encouraged to obtain approval to transfer the courses to ORU for degree credit, especially those that do not appear on the Transfer Guidelines. To obtain approval, they will need to complete a Petition to Transfer at petitions.oru.edu.

A maximum of 72 semester hours from a two-year or community college and 98 credit hours from a four-year institution may be transferred to ORU. At least 30 hours of a degree program, including six hours in the major field and the senior paper/project must be earned from ORU.

Credit earned through military service will be evaluated based on a Joint Services Transcript. Basic Military Training meets the ORU General Education requirements for HPE 155 and swim proficiency.

Transfer of Foreign Credit

ORU will generally follow the guidelines set forth by the National Association of Foreign Student Affairs or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers when transferring foreign academic credit. An official final transcript from the foreign school with an original transcript and English translation must be submitted for evaluation. To obtain approval to bring elective classes in as a specific ORU class, students will need to complete a Petition to Transfer with an attached course description or syllabus at petitions.oru.edu.
