Oral Roberts University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Arts is a residential program that can equip you to become a music scholar. You can graduate with the skills necessary to use music as a socializing force and an aid to a compassionate understanding of yourself and those around you. As a Music Arts major you have the opportunity to focus on the Arts and to pursue a minor in another area of interest.
More than this, our unique mission to develop Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through Whole Person Education can truly set you apart to impact the world through professional work within the music industry by teaching, performing, or serving in various church ministries. What makes ORU’s Music Arts program stand out?
Our goal at ORU is to equip you with a Whole Person Education and we believe that begins with the ability to choose a path that will set you up for success. The ORU Music Arts Program emphasizes general studies in music along with a primary instrument. You get to choose a specific path to study with an integral part of this being weekly participation in lessons geared towards the specific instrument you choose. Admission to this program requires a separate application with the music department and an audition. ORU became an All Steinway School in Spring 2011.
What about accreditation?
As a university, we meet the accreditation standards set by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In addition, the Music Department is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). ORU is also an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved University.
Are there scholarships available?
