Byron Klaus served as president of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) from 1999- 2015. Prior to his years of service to AGTS, he served for 20 years at Vanguard University of Southern California in the roles of both faculty and administration. While at Vanguard University, Dr. Klaus also served as vice president for Latin America Child Care (LACC). The LACC (currently known as ChildHope) is a child development ministry serving over 80,000 children in 21 nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to serving at Vanguard, he served at churches in California, Texas, and Illinois.
Byron graduated from Bethany Bible College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Fuller Theological Seminary. His commitment to leadership development in growing churches around the world has taken him to preach and develop leaders in over 50 nations in the world. Dr. Klaus’ scholarly work includes publications and books published by Baker Book House, Moody Press, Logion Press, Regal Books, Hendrickson Publishers, Regnum Books International, and Routledge Publishers. He is co-editor of Called and Empowered: Pentecostal Mission in Global Perspective and The Globalization of Pentecostalism: A Religion Made to Travel.
Since retiring from the presidency of AGTS, Dr. Klaus continues to teach courses at the seminary and returned to ChildHope, as a vice president. Byron also serves on the Board of Intrust Center for Theological Schools with the unique distinction of being the only charismatic board member. Additionally, he provides consulting services to various organizations.
Byron lives with his wife, Lois, in Oregon City, OR, and is the proud father of two daughters, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather.
