SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY, GUIDELINES, and renewal criteria

  • Quest Whole Leader Scholarship amounts are determined by ORU's Scholarship Review Committee.
  • Awards range in value and nominated students will have the opportunity to be considered for a full-tuition scholarship. Eligibility for a full-tuition scholarship depends on admission to the university (see additional guidelines below).
  • The Quest Whole Leader Scholarship is valid for up to four years of continuous, full-time enrollment in an undergraduate, residential program at Oral Roberts University. 
  • Starting in spring 2023, students who left ORU and since reapplied are eligible to receive an exclusive offer of 50% off their tuition if they have less than 15 credit hours remaining to complete their degree. (Applicable to part-time or full-time, and residential or online)
  • Quest Whole Leader Scholarships are not transferable and must be used the year it was awarded. 
  • Awards are reviewed annually. Students must maintain a satisfactory Grade Point Average and remain in good standing with the University in order to continue receiving the award. See detailed renewal criteria below.
  • Awards may be suspended for a period of time or canceled if recipients do not remain in good standing with the University as determined by the University Discipline Committee.
  • Changes made to a student's residential status will result in a 25% reduction to this award.
  • Students switching to a virtual program will receive a 35% reduction in their Quest scholarship, with a maximum institutional award amount of $6,250 per semester.
  • The University reserves the right to reduce or revoke a Quest Whole Leader Scholarship should a recipient violate the Honor Code or residential life policies as outlined in the ORU Student Handbook.
  • The $1,000 FAFSA grant is a one-time, non-renewable, visit grant that is limited to prospective students attending ORU in the Fall 2024 semester, by invitation only.

  • To be eligible, you must be a high school senior, recent high school graduate or transfer student considering ORU for the next Fall or Spring term. 
  • Eligibility is limited to those who have not yet received a Quest Whole Leader Scholarship and are not returning ORU students.
  • Students who receive athletic aid at ORU due to participation in NCAA Division 1 Athletics are not eligible for Quest Whole Leader Scholarships.
  • All awards are subject to change until a student has paid the $250 enrollment fee.
  • Eligible individuals who are admitted to ORU, have received a nomination from a non-family member, and complete their Quest Essay will have the opportunity to compete for a full-tuition scholarship.

  • Eligible students may be nominated to compete for a full-tuition Quest Whole Leader Scholarship by a non-family member who is a school official, church official, community leader or a member of the ORU alumni, faculty or staff.
  • Being nominated does not guarantee someone a scholarship. Nominees still need to qualify and complete the process. However, nominations can inform the Scholarship Committee of exceptional students, enhancing a candidate's scholarship file for full-tuition consideration.

RENEWAL CRITERIA

1. Quest Whole Leader Scholarship 

Quest Whole Leader Scholarship recipients must maintain good standing with the University and meet the renewal criteria for their level of award. Changes made to a student's residential status may result in adjustments to this award. Awards may be suspended for a period of time or canceled if recipients do not remain in good standing with the University as determined by the University Discipline Committee. The University reserves the right to reduce or revoke a Quest Whole Leader Scholarship should a recipient violate the Honor Code or residential life policies as outlined in the ORU Student Handbook.

  • Recipients must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
    • If the 3.0 standard is achieved, the Quest Whole Leader Scholarship will be renewed for the following academic year.
    • If the 3.0 standard is not achieved, your Quest award will be placed in scholarship probation for the following academic year with no reduction to the scholarship. If your scores continue below standard for a second year, your Quest award will be cancelled until your GPA reaches the 3.0 standard again. 
    • Students with a cumulative GPA below 1.50 are not eligible to receive their Quest Award.

  • Recipients must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
    • If the 2.5 standard is achieved, the Quest Whole Person Scholarship will be renewed for the following academic year.
    • If the 2.5 standard is not achieved, your Quest award will be placed in scholarship probation for the following academic year with no reduction to the scholarship. If your scores continue below standard for a second year, your Quest award will be cancelled until your GPA reaches the 2.5 standard again.
    • Students with a cumulative GPA below 1.50 are not eligible to receive their Quest Award.

2. Academic Scholarship

Academic Scholarships are renewed annually based on your cumulative ORU GPA following the Spring semester, according to the terms of your award. In order to access the required cumulative GPA for your award, log into Vision and navigate to the Financial Aid Award Overview.
