AC—Aerobics Center. It is located at the top of the hill between the Stovall Administrative Center.

Aerobic Points—the health points all ORU students keep track of to pass health fitness requirements. Your health fitness instructor will explain them in detail.

Alcove—the small space opposite the elevators on each floor of Quad Towers. Community meetings and other floor gatherings occur here.

Community Meeting—the meeting on Monday nights at 10 p.m., when everyone on the floor meets with the Resident Advisor, and for floor leadership, campus, and floor announcements.

Concierge—The concierge office provides Residential Services for the Residence Halls and assists students with other questions and needs. Please call us at 918.495.7711 or email concierge@oru.edu. Concierge offices are located on LRC 3. 

Chaplain—A Chaplain lives on each wing of the residence halls. Chaplains connect with residents individually, create atmospheres of spiritual growth for the whole floor, provide prayer and support, and work with the RAs to make a healthy and fun floor culture.

Commuter Lounge—A special lounge for commuters is on the second floor of the LRC. Lockers for commuter students’ personal belongings are located outside the lounge and can be rented through the Student Association’s Commuter Chairperson. For more information, call 918.495.6962.

CPO—Campus Post Office. It is located on the ground floor of EMR. All full-time residential students are assigned a CPO box number, which becomes part of their mailing address.

Curfew—The curfew hour for all first-year students is 1:00 a.m. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are not subject to a specific curfew time.

Chick-fil-A- is located on the lower floor of the Hamill Student Center. Accepts Sodexo Bucks from residential board plans as well as Eagle Bucks

EMR—Ellis Melvin Roberts Hall. A men’s residence hall housing 600 students, named after Chancellor Roberts’ father. The Campus Post Office is in the south wing, and the Student Health offices are in the north wing.

Extension—the last four digits of an ORU phone number. When dialing from on-campus to another on-campus phone, the last four numbers are all you need to use. For example, the Security office’s phone number is 918.495.7750. Those calling from campus would dial the last four digits, extension 7750.

FAFSA—Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The form students fill out to apply for federal grants and loans.

Field Test—A measurement of fitness level used in all HPER courses. In the first semester, students will walk or run 1.5 miles. From then on, the test is 2 miles.

Fishbowl—the lobby area between the men’s and women’s residence halls in Quad Towers. It is appropriately named for its all-glass outer walls. The fishbowl is a great place to meet friends, watch TV, or relax.

GC-Graduate Center -Most classes are held at the GC Graduate Center (the south half of the LRC-GC diamond-shaped building). It also contains Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and many academic departments.

Hall of Mirrors—the hallway section connecting the LRC to the GC on the 3rd floor.

HRA—The Head Resident Advisor supervises all RAs in the residence hall.

Lower Lot—the parking lot between Quad Towers and the Hamill Student Center. Parking here is reserved for faculty and staff, so cars without special permits will be ticketed.

LRC—Learning Resources Center is the north half of the LRC-GC diamond-shaped building. It contains departmental offices and classrooms.

MAC- Peggy V. Helmerich Media Arts Center. The MAC allows students to grow in their crafts and receive hands-on experiences for their major.

Pit—a circular group of seats located on the second through fifth floors of the GC. The Pit is a great place to study, meet up with friends, or take a break between classes.

Prayer Room—The room with the cross is located at the base of the Prayer Tower. It is an open space for the ORU community to have time alone with the Lord through personal prayer and reading His Word in reverent solitude.

RA - The Resident Advisor lives on each wing or floor of the residence halls. RAs conduct community meetings and room checks, promote wing activities, and assist with wellness checks and emergency needs.

Retreat—a special weekend when wings go off campus for rest and fun. Many wings have a retreat once each semester.

Z number—This number is your computer-generated student identification number and is provided to you to protect your Social Security number. Be as careful with your Z number as your Social Security number.
