Federal regulations require institutions to provide "students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with its accreditor and with its State approval or licensing entity and any other relevant State official or agency that would appropriately handle a student complaint" (34 CFR 668.43(b), p. 66954,vol.75, no. 209, 10/29/10).

Grievances should always be filed in accordance with institutional policy first. The Grievance Policies and Procedures can be accessed here.

If the matter is not resolved at the institutional level, the student has the option of filing a grievance with an external authority, such as The Higher Learning Commission or the state.

Grievances related to any aspect of accreditation standards can be directed to The Higher Learning Commission.

If a student is taking classes on campus, taking online classes as a residential student, or taking online classes as a resident of Oklahoma, grievances can be directed to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
