The Graduation Application

he graduation application fee is $75 for all students. It is a non-refundable fee which covers your diploma cover, printing, and mailing. The fee is billed to your student account and can be paid with the Student Accounts Office.

  • Some financial holds will prevent you applying to graduate. In order to move forward, you must reach out to Student Accounts for assistance: studentaccounts@oru.edu or 918-495-6370.
  • An HPE hold can also prevent you from applying. If this is the case, please reach out to the
    Registrar’s Office: registrar@oru.edu or 918-495-6549.

Students who plan to complete their degree requirements as part of the class of 2027 should apply to graduate by 12/1/26. This includes students who will complete fall 2026, spring 2027, and summer 2027. Complete your application at MyORU following the steps here.

If you find that you will not be able to complete your degree requirements as expected after you’ve submitted a graduation application, please reach out to the Registrar’s Office (registrar@oru.edu) as soon as possible. Students must reach out at least 30 days before their conferral date in order for the application to be rescinded and fee removed.

If, for any reason, a candidate does not complete a degree program by the anticipated graduation date, the student must complete any deficiencies by August 31st of that academic year or their application will expire and they will be required to submit a new application. Please note: if application wasn’t withdrawn 30 days prior to conferral date, the student’s new application will incur another non-refundable fee.

Receiving your Diploma

1. Resolve all degree requirements

After the official conferral date and posting of final grades, the Registrar Degree Audit Team begins a manual review of each graduation candidate for degree certification and awarding. Auditors review your DegreeWorks record and petition history to verify that all degree requirements have been met, including GPA, minimum credit hours, HPE requirements, and any approved exceptions. You can also review your DegreeWorks record to confirm that final grades have posted, transfer credits have been applied correctly, and petition exceptions are accurately reflected.

2. Resolve all holds

Certain holds can prevent your diploma from being mailed, so it is important to resolve them as early as possible, preferably before your degree is awarded. You can view any holds on your account through the DegreeWorks card in my.oru.edu under the Holds section; if no holds exist, the category will not appear. Common financial holds, such as Balance Hold, Transcript Ineligible, or Delinquent Payment Plan, must be resolved through Student Accounts. Another common hold is the Exit Interview hold, which is placed when a student has not completed required Loan Exit Counseling through studentaid.gov. Completing this requirement during your final semester can help prevent delays in mailing your diploma.

3. Await degree awarding

The degree awarding process begins after grades are posted for each conferral date, which is determined by when a student completes the work in their final course. Degree auditors review graduation candidates individually, so it may take several weeks for a degree to be officially awarded and reflected in university systems. You can monitor your status in DegreeWorks by reviewing the Graduation Status field near the top of the audit. "CA" indicates you are a candidate for graduation and have applied to graduate, while "AU" indicates an undergraduate degree has been awarded, "AG" indicates a graduate degree has been awarded, and "AD" indicates a doctoral degree has been awarded. Once your status changes from "CA" to the appropriate awarded status, your degree has been officially conferred.

4. Await diploma printing notification email

Check your ORU email regularly (Heading). After the degree awarding process is complete, and there are no holds that prevent it, the diploma printing process will start with our outside diploma company, Parchment. Parchment will email you (using your ORU email) to confirm or if necessary, update your mailing address. Within about 72 hours of that email, your digital diploma will be emailed to your ORU email, and your physical diploma will be mailed. Typically, diplomas are received about 6 to 8 weeks after the close of your graduating semester. If your degree wasn’t awarded or received in this timeframe, please reach out to the Registrar’s Office for assistance: email | registrar@oru.edu | phone | 918-495-6549.
