Program Overview

Oral Roberts University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Writing equips you through developing a writer’s discipline and by communicating effectively through the written word.

You’ll explore the basics of both literary and technical writing, but be empowered to design your own program tailored to your career passion. If you choose literary writing, you’ll improve writing skills to express creativity and have opportunities to attend off-campus workshops and be able to submit work for publication. Historical influences in the development of genres and major literary figures will come to light as well.

If technical writing is your focus, the courses on learning to write for specific audiences will be in your best interest. You will develop skills in editing, revising for clarity and conciseness along with research and internships. You will interact with our excellent faculty who will guide you in the structure of modern English, grant writing, and publishing.
