ORU Earns Accreditation Renewal
The Higher Learning Commission Bestows the Highest Rating Possible
Tulsa, OK— Oral Roberts University’s (ORU) accreditation has been reaffirmed by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), one of six regional accreditors in the United States. This accreditation is a testament to ORU’s continued commitment to excellence in education and the University's unwavering dedication to academic integrity, world-class programs, and student success. The designation comes after a strenuous process and an extensive visit from the HLC external review team.
“I am deeply grateful for the work done by the Board of Trustees, ORU’s reaffirmation task force led by Dr. Kathaleen Reid-Martinez, and the site visit team from the Higher Learning Commission,” said ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson. “This rigorous process affirms the University’s academic value for our current and future students. Our faculty is certainly world-class, which is a large reason for ORU’s historic continuous enrollment growth over the last 15 years. ORU’s standards of excellence are among the best in the world, enabling us to accomplish our mission to develop whole leaders for the whole world.”
The HLC evaluates and affirms the quality and effectiveness of higher education institutions across a diverse range of disciplines. This periodic evaluation process involves a comprehensive review of a university's academic programs, governance, administration, mission, finances, and resources. Accreditation serves as a reliable indicator of an institution's commitment to maintaining and improving educational standards.
“The 10-year accreditation renewal from the Higher Learning Commission is a tremendous accomplishment by the entire ORU community,” said Provost Kathaleen Reid-Martinez. “Every campus department played a role in communicating the University’s commitment to meeting the needs of ORU students. This accreditation is a hallmark that reflects the excellence of the University academically, as well as in every aspect of its operation.”
ORU’s standard for academic success is focused on preparing whole leaders through whole-person education. This is accomplished through the pursuit of five learning outcomes: spiritual integrity, personal resilience, intellectual pursuit, global engagement, and bold vision. As an accredited university, ORU’s current and prospective students have access to high-quality education that reinforces the value of their degrees in the job market. Furthermore, the accreditation allows ORU to remain eligible for federal funding, grants, and research opportunities.
