Statement on the Passing of Ravi Zacharias

Statement from Dr. William M. Wilson, president of Oral Roberts University, on the passing of Ravi Zacharias:

I and the rest of us at Oral Roberts University are deeply saddened at the news that Ravi Zacharias, our brother in Christ, has gone home to be with the Lord. He was a true hero of the faith and has left a long-lasting legacy not just here at ORU but worldwide. It was my honor to welcome him as keynote speaker for our 2015 Commencement ceremonies, where he encouraged our graduates with words that resonated beyond the Mabee Center and into the wider world:

“In your youth here, you have very little idea what God has in mind for you, where He’s taking you, what the sunset will bring. You can be confident that if you follow His will, He will not only surprise you—He will enthrall you and show you the glories of His anointing and the marvels of His power, as He will use you to bring honor to His name.”

The sun may have set on Ravi Zacharias’s time here on this earth, but the Lord has used him to bring honor to His name. I am grateful for his work; we at ORU will continue to honor his legacy as we graduate whole leaders for the whole world.
