ORU students walkingTulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University students will spend their Halloween helping to feed the hungry, and give area schoolchildren resources to succeed. As part of its annual Fall Outreach, students will not ask for candy, but instead will serve the community by collecting canned goods for John 3:16 Mission and school supplies for Tulsa’s Sequoyah Elementary and Memorial Junior High.

ORU students gather at 4:15pm on Thursday, October 31, 2019 to receive instructions before fanning out across the city at 6pm to collect canned goods and school supplies door-to-door.

“We want to get the word out about Fall Outreach, so people can have their canned goods and school supplies ready to donate,” said Andrea Hyre, Director of ORU Missions and Outreach. “Tulsans are extremely generous so we expect to collect even more than in previous years.”

Last year, students collected up to 15,000 pounds of food for the homeless.

New this year, ORU will also donate the school supplies collected to the TPS Schools, Sequoyah Elementary and Memorial Junior High. Items most needed include pencils, Kleenex, Clorox wipes, lined paper, hand sanitizer, glue sticks, dry erase markers, and erasers.
