Dr. Bohatec is a proud Alum of the Anna Vaughn School of Nursing, class of 1998, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Upon graduation from ORU, she worked as an adult critical care nurse for a number of years, both in ICU and PACU as well as oncology. She is from Hopewell, VA so her Southern roots go deep.

She knew her education was not complete and felt the Lord nudging her to become a Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration in 2012 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her Master’s thesis was on “Patient Satisfaction in Nurse-Led versus Physician-Led Care”. The research showed overwhelmingly that nurse and NP-led care was just as satisfying to patients (and many times more so) than physician-led care. She felt the Lord nudge her one more time to complete her education and obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO in 2018, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Her doctoral dissertation was on raising advance directive submission rates. At the time, she was working as a Nurse Practitioner in oncology and noticed most of her patients had not completed end of life planning. “I hoped to make a difference in that, even if just in my practice”.

She is happily married to her husband, Joey, also an ORU Alum from the College of Ministry. Dr. Bohatec and her husband have been blessed with four children, the oldest of which is now a student at ORU. Dr. Bohatec has served as an RN in Oradea, Romania and in Italy as a Camp Nurse for Outpost Expeditions; and as a Nurse Practitioner in Nicaragua twice with Chosen Children’s Ministry.

We are so excited to build the next generation of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). They will be more than prepared to go into every person’s world with the love of Jesus and the medical knowledge to transform lives. The Scripture Dr. Bohatec feels is for the DNP program comes from 2 Cor. 3:3: “being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
