Dr. Tim Hart brings together a unique blend of professional practice, academic expertise, and personal faith to his teaching at Oral Roberts University. An Oklahoman since 1991 when a tornado destroyed his family’s home and relocated them to Tulsa, Dr. Hart views even life’s setbacks as opportunities. That season led him to meet his eventual bride, attend ORU, and eventually raise three children together in the wonderful Tulsa region.
Dr. Hart earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, his J.D. from the University of Tulsa, and his B.S. in Accounting from Oral Roberts University (’93). His research focuses on corporate responsibility, stakeholder management, and the role of top executives in shaping organizations. He has published widely and presented at international conferences, contributing to both academic and practitioner conversations.
Before beginning his academic career, Dr. Hart practiced corporate, contract, real estate, and tax law at Barber & Bartz in Tulsa. He also worked at Tax and Accounting Software Corporation and got his first taste of teaching and mentoring, which he continues to be passionate about. He has served on the faculty at Oklahoma State University (Stillwater and Tulsa), the University of Tulsa, and as a Department Chair and Assistant Dean at Northeastern State University. Along the way, he has earned multiple teaching awards and is consistently praised by students for making complex subjects accessible, relevant, and engaging.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Hart has had transformative opportunities sharing the Gospel of Jesus through short-term missions around the world. These experiences have deepened his passion for connecting faith with business education, equipping students not only with professional skills but also with Christ-centered integrity and purpose. He continues to enjoy research, teaching, and mentoring while being committed to ORU’s mission of educating the whole person—spirit, mind, and body.
