Oral Roberts University has always held a unique vision to develop whole-person leaders, and as both an entrepreneur and educator, Ty Shandy is committed to carrying that vision forward in the classroom. His career spans corporate, entrepreneurial, and non-profit leadership, with a focus on building ventures that create meaningful impact through innovation, stewardship, and faith-driven leadership.
Ty graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Management, serving as a healthcare administrator and officer with duty stations in Arkansas and Japan. He led active-duty and civilian teams in critical assignments, earning recognition as Company Grade Officer of the Year. After completing his service, he pursued dual master’s degrees at Arizona State University, an MBA in Finance and a Master of Health Services Administration. He is currently a PhD candidate in Business at the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business, where his research explores entrepreneurial readiness, leadership, and the intersection of faith and business.
In 2005, Ty co-founded The Shandy Clinic, which grew from a two-person practice into one of the largest privately owned pediatric therapy providers in the United States, employing 278 staff across 12 locations and serving thousands of families. Under his leadership as CEO, the clinic earned recognition as one of Colorado Springs’ Best Places to Work five times, before being acquired by private equity in 2020. Ty’s entrepreneurial journey has also included leading TAGM Properties, a private investment company managing $12M in assets, and serving as President of the Board at Compel Global, a nonprofit platform transforming missionary funding and placement worldwide.
At Oral Roberts University, Ty brings expertise in entrepreneurship, strategic leadership, organizational development, and entrepreneurial finance and marketing. He integrates experiential and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, helping students not only master theory but also apply principles in real-world contexts. His teaching and mentoring reflect a commitment to shaping Spirit-empowered leaders who will make an impact in business and society.
Ty and his wife, Amy, have built their lives around faith, family, and service. They are the proud parents of two adult sons, Grant, a Marine Corps officer, and Mason, a medical device sales representative, along with their amazing daughters-in-law, Ally and Jenna. Outside the classroom, Ty enjoys time with his three horses (Mocha, Cappuccino, and Espresso), his Belgian Malinois dog, Zeke, and his trio of barn cats, Elway, Manning, and Nix. He believes that cultivating both professional excellence and personal balance is part of living out a whole-person education.
