Dr. May became an assistant professor of theological and historical studies within the department beginning the Fall semester of 2022.

Dr. May earned an Associate degree (2005) and Bachelor's degree (2006) in theology at Escondido Bible College, Escondido, California. Dr. May's passion and primary research interest are studying colonial African American Christianity and theology. He aims to contribute to the theologically conservative African American Evangelical scholarship, which presents a scriptural-centered and historically accurate interpretation of African American Slave Christianity. However, his academic interest also extends to the theology of Reinhold Niebuhr and Martin Luther King, Jr., the Civil Rights Movement, Black Theology, the African American slave narratives, and African American literature and politics.
