As with many professors, the students are one of Dr. Terry Shannon's favorite things
about Oral Roberts University. In his position as Assistant Professor of Sport Management,
Dr. Shannon has multiple opportunities to interact with students through the classes
he teaches as well as directing Sports Management interns.
Dr. Shannon sees Tulsa, with its many professional sports teams as well as NCAA Division
I Athletic programs, as the perfect location to provide Sport Management students
with hands-on learning experiences that are not always as readily available at other
locations. With the sports industry being one of the largest revenue generating industries
in the United States and globally, he is excited to see his students excel in this
diverse and growing field.
Prior to joining the Health, Leisure, and Sport Sciences department at ORU, Dr. Shannon
coached men's basketball at Oklahoma City University and East Central University.
He was an instructor within the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation department
at ECU and taught Sports Management at Cameron University. He is also very involved
with community service.
