Myra’s inspiration to become a librarian began with a student work study job in the Oral Roberts University Reference Department. Myra Bloom is the Instruction and Reference Librarian and provides reference and library instructional services through multiple modes of delivery. When Myra assumed responsibility for library instruction she enthusiastically worked to produce and integrate a three-tiered Library Instruction Program into the curriculum. She has effectively developed numerous online research tools across the curriculum and academic disciplines.

Her classroom is an active learning workshop with dynamic content adapted to the new information ecosystem. Myra is often teaching in the Library Instructional Lab offering encouragement, direction and solutions for student research challenges. Myra finds it to be a privilege to work corporately and individually with students and to have an opportunity to challenge and engage ORU students in critical thinking.

Myra works to help students become self-directed, critical thinkers who develop life-long, efficient and effective skills to acquire, evaluate, create and use information. Supporting University whole-person education, she encourages students with elements of faith and/or aerobics integrated into library instruction.

She enjoys inspirational books on heroes of faith. Myra likes spending time outdoors and cultivating reflection. Running and backpacking, especially an occasional trek into the Grand Canyon, are key outdoor activities for her.

After seeing a television advertisement for Oral Roberts University, Myra decided move to Tulsa. Myra attended Oral Roberts University and completed her Bachelor of Arts in 1995. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in Biblical Literature from Oral Roberts University in 1998 and a Master of Library and Information Science in 1998 from the University of Oklahoma, Norman.
