Dr. Matsson received both his masters degree and his doctorate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. After acquiring his Ph.D., he undertook two years of scientific research into the physics that causes drag with the goal of improving fuel efficiency.
Dr. Matsson has been at ORU since 2001, when he came to the U.S. with his Swedish wife Åsa, two children and one on the way. They had a beautiful marriage until 2015, when Åsa suddenly became ill and she went to her heavenly home in early 2016. He later met Tulsa native Susan and they married in 2021. Together they have five adult children and several grandchildren, who live in different areas throughout the world. Traveling is a favorite pastime.
Dr. Matsson builds and flies radio-controlled model airplanes, as a hobby. He is a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
"I enjoy the Christian atmosphere at ORU and getting to know the students," he commented. "Chapel services are so rich and meaningful. They are the glue that holds us together."
