Dr. Hannah King joined ORU as an Associate Professor in 2024. She earned her Ph.D. in Cancer Research from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and her B.S. in Biomedical Chemistry from ORU. Her doctoral research centered on innovative cancer therapeutics, focusing on the development of PROTACs (proteolysis-targeting chimeras) to selectively degrade key proteins with the aim of enhancing cancer treatment efficacy. Her work bridges medicinal chemistry and molecular biology, contributing to advancements in translational cancer research and drug development.

Before joining ORU, Dr. King served underrepresented communities by teaching a range of biology and chemistry courses at a small regional university in rural Oklahoma. She now teaches Molecular Cell Biology along with various courses in ORU's Biology and Chemistry department. Driven by a passion for making science accessible, Dr. King inspires students to explore the intricacy and beauty of God’s creation. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of faith and values into scientific inquiry, encouraging students to connect biological complexities with a broader Christian worldview. She is committed to fostering excellence and guiding students to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in their academic and personal lives.

Dr. King also mentors undergraduate researchers on projects involving protein inhibition, small-molecule drug design, and the regulation of cancer-related pathways. She takes pride in cultivating critical thinking and real-world application of scientific principles, equipping students for successful careers in science and medicine.

Dr. King believes that faith, science, and innovation are deeply interconnected and vital for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.
