What does it take to be in charge of Systems Administration for a university library? Dana Higeons would most definitely have an answer to that question. Daily, she takes on the behind-the-scenes challenges to ensure that the data in the library catalog is accurate. “I do all kinds of things!” she said.

Higeons attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor’s in History. That fall, she started working in the library at ORU.
“God brought me here,” she said. “I had a desire to work in a library. When I first looked at an open position at ORU, I thought, ‘I don’t want to wear dresses all the time!’ Regardless, I applied that Monday, was interviewed on Tuesday and started the job on Wednesday.”

“I love still being in the school mode,” she said. “It’s hard to leave school after you’ve been in it your entire life. I love being involved with education.”

Outside of school, Higeons treasures the time she gets to spend with her husband and grown children. She also enjoys watching University of Oklahoma football games and attending ORU basketball games. Additionally, she has been playing hand bells at 2 different churches for a little under 30 years now.

Clearly, Dana Higeons has what it takes to keep the system moving along smoothly. Because of her hard work and investment into the ORU library, students now have a library system right at their fingertips.
