Dr. Cody Diehl comes to the College of Science and Engineering's Health, Leisure, and Sport Sciences department after completing a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Diehl served on a team funded by the National Institute of Health researching the effects of a 2-year digital lifestyle intervention on Alzheimer's Disease risk among at-risk middle-aged and older adults. Dr. Diehl’s research during his doctoral degree focused on neuromodulation via transcranial direct current stimulation as well as ergogenic aids on delayed onset muscle soreness and peak anaerobic capacity.
Dr. Diehl has served in the Young Professionals Alzheimer’s Society of Oklahoma and is active in the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Diehl is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds a Graduate Certificate in Statistical Methods and Analyses. Dr. Diehl also holds a certificate from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and has served the University of Dayton Rescue Squad.
Dr. Diehl’s research interests involve a whole-person approach. His dedication to advancing human performance and well-being has resulted in a diverse portfolio of research initiatives, encompassing neuromodulation, cognitive evaluation methods, mechanisms of cognitive decline, muscle physiology, ergogenic interventions, sleep behavior, and biomechanical analysis of footwear.
Dr. Diehl received his B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Dayton, his M.S. in Exercise Physiology from Western Michigan University, and his Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Oklahoma State University.
