Dr. Cal Easterling is a tenured full professor at Oral Roberts University and serves as ORU’s Accreditation Liaison Officer. He was raised in the tall grass prairie region of Osage County, Oklahoma. He currently teaches Introduction to Sociology, Marriage and Family, The Child and Family in the Social Context, Cultural Anthropology, Minority Group Relations, Social Deviance, and has taught Elementary Statistics. He has taught at ORU for 27 years.

Dr. Easterling’s list of degrees include the following: B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Spanish from McMurry University; M.A. in Sociology from Stephen F. Austin State University; Master of Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and he received his Ph.D. in Sociology with minors in Higher Education Administration and Computer Science from the University of North Texas.

Before coming to teach at ORU, Dr. Easterling pastored denominational and nondenominational churches in Texas and Oklahoma for eleven years and taught New Testament at Southwestern Oklahoma State University; Sociology at El Centro College and Brookhaven College (both in Dallas, Texas), Rogers State University, and Tulsa Community College; and Statistics at the University of North Texas. Dr. Easterling served as Dean of the Azusa School of Ministry and was an Elder and Founding Sunday School Superintendent at Higher Dimensions Family Church in Tulsa. He also served fourteen years as Sunday School Superintendent at Victory Christian Center and is still very active in the congregation. Dr. Easterling was in ORU administration for seventeen years before stepping down from the deanship to devote more time to teaching and research. He leads a small research team of undergraduate honors students investigating Americans’ awareness of nuclear and other existential threats.

Dr. Easterling has been married for 39 years to his wife, Gail, who is a CPA and Director of Accounting at Union Public Schools in Tulsa. The Easterlings have four children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy witnessing to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and saltwater fishing on the Texas coast.
