Dr. Bill Gordon is an Associate Professor of Health, Leisure, and Sport Science in the College of Science and Engineering at Oral Roberts University. Dr. Gordon teaches health fitness courses, methods courses for future educators, tennis classes and is the online director for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) activity courses for both undergraduate and graduate programs. In the classroom, his emphasis is on the development of the next generation through inculcating a Christian worldview, preparing future educators and promoting healthy lifestyles.

His book, “Game, Set, Match: The Comprehensive Guide of Tactics and Strategies for Winning Tennis” was published by Eddie Bowers Publishing. Dr. Gordon’s professional recognitions include: 3-time recipient of the HPER Faculty of the Year Award, recipient of ORU Excellence in Teaching Award, recipient of ORU professionalism in the Classroom Award, recipient of School of Arts and Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award, 2-time nomination for Outstanding Faculty of the Year in the School of Education, nominated for Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, nominated for Alumni Award for Teaching Christian Worldview, nominated for Phi Delta Kappa’s Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, nominated for the Christian Society for Kinesiology and Leisure Studies’ National Literary Award, recipient of the Mid-Continent Conference Tennis Coach of the Year and nominated for the United States Professional Tennis Association’s National College Coach of the Year. Dr. Gordon retired from coaching tennis with a career win/loss record of 161-17.

His mission statement reads: “To minister in the areas of Health and Sport so that my students can lead lives of quality and quantity - ultimately empowering them to more effectively serve our Lord as Holy Spirit empowered leaders”.

Dr. Gordon received his Bachelor of Science from John Brown University, a Masters of Education from the University of Central Oklahoma (graduating with Honors, 4.0 GPA), and a Doctor of Education from Oral Roberts University (graduating with Honors, 4.0 GPA).
