Andrew S.I.D. Lang, Ph.D., is Dean of the College of Science and Engineering and Senior Professor of Mathematics. His current work focuses on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, higher education, student formation, and the relationship between humans and intelligent machines.
Lang has taught at ORU since 1998 and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles spanning artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematics, open science, student success, and interdisciplinary research. He has collaborated with more than 50 undergraduate researchers as co-authors and is a frequent speaker on AI and higher education.
His contributions to Open Science have been recognized by the White House, and he is a recipient of the international Blue Obelisk Award and a Fellow of the DaVinci Institute. At ORU, he has been named Scholar of the Year three times and has received awards for teaching, student engagement, and honors education.
Originally from Lydd, England, Lang earned a B.Sc. in Mathematical Physics from the University of Kent, an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Tulsa, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Missouri. He and his wife, Kelly, live in Tulsa and have four children.
