Dr. Gwetheldene Holzmann is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education. She has served at ORU for over 25 years in a variety of capacities, but regardless of her positions she has always pursued her passion for teaching. She teaches Philosophy of Education and courses in Higher Education Administration while supervising student dissertation research. Before joining the faculty in 2020, she worked in Institutional Effectiveness as the Director of State Authorization. Her main responsibilities included assessment, coordination of the faculty hiring process, and legal compliance.
Prior to coming to ORU, Dr. Holzmann taught biology, chemistry, and physics in Christian schools and home school settings. She also had positions in government and the medical field as a Toxicology laboratory technician. The knowledge and experience she gained throughout her career enrich the content of the classes she currently teaches.
Her commitment to pursuing excellence in education is reflected in her induction into Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education. She has been a member for over 30 years and currently serves as one of the Counselors for the Alpha Beta Lambda Chapter at ORU.
Dr. Holzmann’s research interests in assessment and effective teaching caused her to become involved in studying the scholarship of teaching and learning. She was as a founding member of The Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for Christians in Higher Education and currently serves as a Research Editor for the journal.
Dr. Holzmann earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Malone College (now Malone University) in Canton, Ohio. She earned her M.A. in Curriculum from CBN University (now Regent University) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Her Ed.S. and Ed.D. degrees in Higher Education Administration were earned from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
