Dr. Candera T. Lomax is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Education, at Oral Roberts University. Born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas, she served eight years teaching Religious Studies to middle school students in Bahamian public schools. During her tenure, she established a young female mentoring program that served hundreds of students each semester. Her passion for mentoring led her to pursue a master’s degree in in 2018 in counseling to enhance her skillset working with the population. Then, Dr. Lomax earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration in 2022. Against this backdrop, Dr. Lomax focused on developing a master’s degree program in School Counseling through the Graduate School of Education at ORU. Her passion is to educate the minds and heal the hearts of students. 

Prior to joining ORU’s graduate faculty, Dr. Lomax served as Administrative Secretary for Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship and The International Christian Accrediting Association where she worked with school leaders of Christian P-12 schools to fulfill the requirements for achieving and maintaining accreditation. In keeping with her passion for developing young ladies, Dr. Lomax published two motivational books: Lessons from Angel: A Guide to Personal Development in Young Ladies, and Rock that Dress: Embracing your Unique Design. Her dissertation title and research interests include the correlation between “Attachment Orientation, Rejection Sensitivity, and Academic Performance.”
