Dr. Paul Okoruwa brings a wealth of diverse experience to Oral Roberts University, from academia and private sector engagement to public service and ministry.
Dr. Okoruwa holds a B.Sc. in Political Science from Ambrose Alli University, Nigeria, and pursued his passion for international relations by obtaining an M.Sc. in Political Science from the prestigious University of Ibadan. He furthered his studies with an MTS and a doctorate from Liberty University.
In the classroom, Dr. Okoruwa has been instrumental in guiding students to develop as Whole Person graduates, prepared for leadership in a range of careers from political analysis, law, lobbying, human rights, public affairs and global governance to public service, research and academia. At ORU, he currently teaches courses in American Political Leadership, Political Science Research Methods, Public Policy Analysis and Senior Paper.
His commitment to enriching students’ academic experience extends beyond the classroom, evident through his work in service learning and civic engagement, for which he received the esteemed Service-Learning Scholars Grant in 2015.
Dr. Okoruwa's research interests underscore his multifaceted approach to academia, with interdisciplinary interests in religion, politics, international relations, diplomacy and racial justice. His scholarly pursuits are complemented by his real-world experiences, including his tenure as Corporate Affairs Manager for a Petroleum Marketing company and his involvement in the Minnesota Criminal Justice system, where he focused on juvenile criminal justice rehabilitation programs.
Beyond his academic and professional endeavors, Dr. Okoruwa is an ordained minister with the Rhema Ministerial Association International. He served as a care minister at Living Word Christian Center in Minnesota for three years and in a ministry support role at the Kenneth Hagin Ministries for almost 10 years. He currently serves on the Board of several ministries.
He is a member of the American Political Science Association and the Oklahoma Political Science Association and involved with the Northeastern Oklahoma Model United Nations chapter.
