Joyce Bridgman, Assistant Professor of Music, and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies, joined the Oral Roberts University Full-time Faculty in August 1967. She had worked previously as an Information Hostess for Oral Roberts University during the summer 1965, just prior to ORU’s first academic year.

Ms Bridgman completed doctoral studies and recitals at the University of Washington, receiving the Certificate of Doctoral Candidacy in Musical Arts in 1977, the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Kansas, 1966, and the Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, from Phillips University, 1965. Among her distinguished artist teachers are Béla Síki, Dr. Jon Nelson, Mme Angelica Morales Von Sauer, and Sidney Foster. Post graduate studies included Indiana University at Bloomington, IN, and the Van Cliburn Piano Institute, Fort Worth, TX. She has performed solo recitals, duo-piano recitals, concerti, and collaborative recitals with vocalists and instrumentalists in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, California, Washington, and New York. In addition to recitals of the standard classical repertoire, her lifelong experiences as a performer and teacher enhance the worship services of many churches, both denominational and non-denominational.

She has enjoyed the successes of ORU music alumni, including three Steinway Artists, numerous professional teachers, professors, performers, composers, arrangers, and worship leaders. Oral Roberts University became an All-Steinway School in 2011; therefore, she was invited to visit Steinway Hall, New York City, to select the new Steinway grand pianos for ORU. She holds active professional membership in Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity; Music Teachers National Association; Oklahoma Music Teachers and Tulsa Accredited Music Teachers Associations. She is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Personalities of the South, International Who’s Who in Music and Musicians and received the ORU Faculty Award for Outstanding Service in 2011.
