Evan E. Hewitt brings over 3o years’ experience as a writer, director and producer of film and video media to ORU where he serves as an Associate Professor of Media.
His writing and directing credits have earned him multiple awards including Best Inspirational Christian Film, Desolate and Best Graduate Screenplay, Paddle Out. He has won several Telly and two Communicator awards and been a juror-member for the University Film and Video Association annual Film Awards.
He and his wife Kristie co-own Bit Brilliant LLC, a full-service media consulting and production company. Hewitt has directed and produced several successful theatre productions including Little Women, The One Act Play that Goes Wrong and Matilda.
Hewitt most recently taught at Oklahoma Wesleyan University where he helped create new programs including the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Cinema and a minor in Acting & Performance. For his work, he was recognized as the 2019 Promising Teacher. Prior to OKWU, he taught at Full Sail University where he helped launch the Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing for Entertainment and the Master of Fine Arts in Film Production.
Hewitt graduated with a Master of Fine Art with honors in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He currently teaches courses in Field Production, Production Software, Advanced Field Production, and Digital Society for students studying Cinema-Television, Media Production, Public Relations-Advertising, and Journalism at ORU.
In his spare time, Hewitt loves all things outdoors especially off-road motorcycle trips. His travels have taken him to over 15 countries.
