Dr. Agena L. Farmer brings a background of practical speech experience as a teacher/forensics director at Oral Roberts University. She has worked at both the high school and college levels of education sending students to the national levels of competition at both the high school (National Forensics League) and the university levels. She is the founding/current coach of the ORU debate team and has had national winners on the junior varsity and novice levels in NPDA (Parliamentary Debate) and IPDA (Public Debate).

Dr. Farmer has received Outstanding Service awards from the College of Arts and Cultural Studies and at the university level serving as the president for the University Faculty Assembly and the Tenured Faculty. She has helped coordinate the Faculty Connection meetings at the first of the school year for more than 25 years. She has taught a variety of undergraduate courses, both in the classroom and helped create the ORU Online degree in Communication. Courses taught include Argumentation & Persuasion, Interpersonal Communication, Communication Theory, Organizational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Conference Leadership and Event Planning, Advanced Public Speaking, Advanced Interpersonal Communication, Gender & Family Communication and Senior Paper.

Dr. Farmer serves as one of the writers and editors of Becoming a Better Communicator, A Basic Course in Interpersonal and Public Communication, and makes various presentations concerning the interpersonal relationship that is available to us through Christ Jesus.

Her goal as a communication professor is to guide students to an interpersonal relationship with Christ and to help develop their logical skills of argumentation to effectively communicate Christian principles and ideals.

Dr. Farmer has received the following degrees: Ed.D. Educational Leadership, Oral Roberts University; MS in Education, Missouri State University; B.S. in Education, Missouri State University and is currently an assistant professor in the Communication and Media Department in the College of Arts and Cultural Studies.
