ORU'S WORK-STUDY PROGRAM
ORU’s Work-Study Program allows undergraduate and graduate students to apply for part-time positions to help cover education expenses. Students can apply for a wide range of roles across campus, from student leadership and library support to assisting with audiovisual needs or working in dining services, offering diverse experiences that support their academic journey.

Whether you’re new to the program or looking for more details, this section is designed to help you navigate the opportunities available and get the most out of your on-campus employment experience.To qualify for work-study, you must be a full-time student living on-campus, as reflected in your financial aid offer.
- If you qualify for federal work-study, it will be included in your financial aid offer after completing the FAFSA.
- If you’re not eligible for federal aid, you can request ORU-based work-study through the Student Employment office.
- International students can apply for international work-study upon request.

- Most students work 10-15 hours per week, but this is determined by your supervisor
- Maximum hours: 20 hours per week
- You cannot earn more than your work-study award allows:
- Federal work-study: Up to $2,000/semester
- ORU work-study: Up to $1,500/semester
- International work-study: Up to $2,000/semester
- Log in to Vision and complete the Student Employment application
- Agree to the program’s basic requirements
- Browse job listings and apply for positions that interest you
- Once you’ve applied, we recommend reaching out to the department to introduce yourself
Hiring managers review applications and will reach out via email or phone if they’d like to interview you. If selected, you’ll receive an email with next steps, including completing hiring paperwork with Student Employment before your first shift.
Bring original (no copies!) identification documents. Options include:
U.S. Students:
- A photo ID
- A document showing your right to work (Social Security Card or Birth Certificate) OR a Passport.

Just like any other job, there are a few forms you’ll need to fill out in the Student Employment Office before you can start working. These include:
- I-9 Form: Verifies your identity and work eligibility
- Federal W-4 Form: Determines how much tax is withheld from your paycheck
- State W-4 Form: Required for Oklahoma state taxes
- Direct Deposit Form: Ensures your paycheck goes straight to your bank account
Student Employment will walk you through the process, so don’t worry—you’ll be all set before your first shift!

Work-study jobs pay at least Oklahoma’s minimum wage, but some roles may pay more based on responsibilities and skills required. Payments are made every two weeks via direct deposit.
Work-study wages are paid directly to you via direct deposit every two weeks. If you’d like to use your earnings toward your tuition balance, you’ll need to make payments yourself after receiving your paycheck.
Your W-2 form (for tax filing) will be available by January 31st each year.
