Flexibility for Your Family

With our payment plans, we can work with you to tailor a solution for your needs. Take Alex, for example. After he applies scholarship, grants and college savings towards his educational costs, he has a remaining balance of $4,800. Here are just three of the many options he can consider:

Scenario 1 - Payment Plan Only

Alex’s family divides the $4,800 into twelve monthly payments.
Monthly Payment: $400 per month.
Interest Paid: $0
Total Paid: $4,800*

Scenario 2 - Loan Only

Alex’s family takes out a Direct PLUS Loan for the full $4,800.
Monthly Payment: $57**
Interest Paid: $2,067
Total Paid: $6,867

Scenario 3 - Combine Payment Plan and Loans

Alex’s family divides the balance in half, using a Direct PLUS Loan for $2,400 and a 12-month TMS plan for the other $2,400.
Monthly Payments during Year 1: $228 ($200 TMS + $28 Loan)
Monthly Payments after Year 1: $28 (Loan)**
Interest Paid: $1,033 (Loan)
Total Paid: $5,833 ($2,400 TMS* + $3,433 Loan)

 * This total does not include the TMS enrollment fee.

**This amount was calculated using a standard 10-year repayment plan with a 2018-19 Direct PLUS Loans interest rate of 7.6%.

Payment Methods

You can make payments to TMS in U.S. dollars by check, money order, Automatic Payment Option ("APO") or by accepted credit or debit card types. You may not make payments with cash or post-dated checks.

Cost and Fees with TMS

Though this is an interest-free option we offer our students, we value transparency and want you to be mindful of the following costs and fees:

  • Enrollment Fee: To participate in TMS, they require a $56 to $85 enrollment fee, depending on the plan you choose.
  • Late Fees: You may be subject to a late fee from TMS for payments received after the due date. A late fee may also be incurred for an incomplete payment.
  • Returned Payment Fee: A fee from TMS is required for all returned payments.
  • Reinstatement Fee: A fee may be charged by TMS if you reinstate your monthly payment plan after it is terminated
  • Transaction Fee: You may incur additional charges if you use TMS’s optional TuitionCharge® credit card payment process or an online or telephone payment process to make a payments.
