Program Features

Yes. Admission to the commercial music program requires an audition with the music department. You must first apply and be admitted to the university prior to auditioning. After admission, you’ll receive instructions via email on how to submit your audition materials. For audition details and to submit your materials, please visit the audition form. The commercial music program at ORU emphasizes real-world experience through internships that connect you with the music industry. You’ll have opportunities to work with recording studios, live sound companies, music production houses, film scoring teams, and digital media firms. These internships provide hands-on training, professional networking, and a chance to apply your skills in songwriting, sound engineering, and music marketing. Many students find that their internship experiences lead to job offers or open doors to exciting career opportunities after graduation.

ORU meets the accreditation standards set by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The ORU Music Department is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). ORU is also an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) university. Also, ORU became an All Steinway School in Spring 2011.
