Tulsa, Okla.— Oral Roberts University (ORU) engineering students won two awards in Love's Entrepreneur’s Cup competition, including the Interview Award for the best IT/App winner and a third-place award in the Small Business Division, together earning them $5,000. Love’s Entrepreneur’s Cup is a business competition for college students across the state. The winning team, which includes team leader Isaac Rowaiye and teammates Nathan Musgrove and Zechariah Tay, presented to judges their business plan idea, Perfect Form, an artificial intelligence fitness app that serves as a personal trainer in your pocket.
“Participating in Love’s Cup was very exciting,” said Isaac, ORU Senior, “It was great to see our hard work pay off by doing well in the competition. I thank God for giving me the idea, providing me good partners to add to the team, and opportunities like Love’s Cup to pursue the fruition of this idea.”
Love’s Cup allows student entrepreneurs to grow and lead their own startups. Isaac first pursued his business idea, Perfect Form, when he and his teammates finished second in ORU’s The Launch, a campus-wide competition hosted by ORU’s Stovall Center for Entrepreneurship. Participating in The Launch helped the growth and acceleration of Perfect Form to prepare for competition in Love’s Entrepreneur’s Cup.
“I am proud of Isaac and the Perfect Form team,” said Dr. Kevin Schneider, Team Advisor and Stovall Center for Entrepreneurship’s Executive Director. “They worked hard to develop a working prototype and excellent pitch to place in both The Launch competition and Love’s Cup, and I’m excited to see the team take Perfect Form to the next level.”
To compete for the Love’s Cup Interview Award, team Perfect Form sat down with an industry expert to share their business idea and receive advice. They were chosen as the best and most exciting business presentation in the IT/App industry. For the Small Business Division award, the team made it to the semifinals where they traveled to Oklahoma City and pitched their business idea. They advanced to the finals and pitched again, winning third place.
“The student’s creative idea, Perfect Form, was very impressive,” said Dr. Xiaomin Ma, ORU Senior Professor of Engineering. “They met many challenges in developing the app’s complex system. Through a step-by-step approach, perseverance, and passion, the team developed a high-tech system to help people on their fitness journey."
