Tulsa Okla.— Oral Roberts University (ORU) recently hosted the 2022 Family Weekend, bringing students and families from as far away as Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, and Paris, France, for three days of activities and exciting events. During Family Weekend, parents, siblings, and friends had the opportunity to attend classes, tour ORU’s growing campus, and explore the city of Tulsa.
Over a three-day period, families participated in several on-campus activities, including a Chapel event featuring Augustine Mendoza, ORU’s Director of Spiritual Life. Families also connected with their student's academic departments, and the Hammer Center hosted an interactive game night. On Saturday, families spent the morning at a special brunch with ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson.
President Wilson expressed his appreciation by saying, “We are grateful for these families and for the trust they have in ORU. Our University is committed to developing these amazing students to become whole leaders for the whole world. With the #1 undergrad faculty in the West (according to US News & World Report) and ranked #4 in student engagement (by Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education), ORU families know their sons and daughters have found a home for academic excellence, Christian values, and a bold vision for their careers.”

Following brunch with President Wilson, families had the opportunity to see Tulsa, which CNN named one of the best destinations to visit in 2022. Parents also explored ORU’s growing campus which has four new buildings that are currently under construction. The night ended with a thrilling men's basketball game and a packed house at the Mabee Center. This year, ORU basketball experienced the highest total cumulative attendance in The Summit League and in Tulsa with over 60,000 fans.
On the last day, families and friends had the opportunity to join students for worship at their local church followed by brunch on campus. Before heading home and giving students a hug goodbye, families had a chance to see ORU Baseball compete with St. Louis University. This year’s event, which will be an annual event, allowed families to experience ORU life and gave them a peek into the college home of their ORU students.
