Oral Roberts University Names Dr. Grey Hoff as Associate Vice President of International Student Relations

Dr. Grey Hoff

Tulsa, OK. — Oral Roberts University (ORU) recently named Dr. Grey Hoff, Associate Vice President of International Student Relations, and he will assume his role on March 1, 2023. For the past 17 years, Dr. Hoff has served in Christian higher education, mainly focusing on international recruitment. Dr. Hoff comes to ORU after serving 8 years in various roles at Dallas Baptist University, including Director for Accounts Receivable, Assistant Vice President for Financial Affairs, and Director for Global Development. He also served as Associate Vice President for Global Engagement for two years at Hardin-Simmons University. Dr. Hoff holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University, as well as a doctoral degree from Pepperdine University.

In this new role, Dr. Hoff will lead and direct all aspects of ORU’s global recruitment and retention initiatives for international students, working closely with the faculty, staff, and supporting departments. Recently, Dr. Hoff was asked about his new role and what it’s like working with students who choose to study in the United States.

Q. What attracted you to ORU?

I have long admired ORU’s vision to bring Spirit-empowered, whole-person education to every nation. At ORU, I saw a passion for globalization and international students that was unlike any other university I have seen.

Specifically, I was attracted to this role because it is responsible for all aspects of an international student’s journey. The University understands the unique needs of international students and wants them to succeed in their decision to study in the U.S. I see the love and intentionality ORU has for international students, and I’m excited to be a part of this. After a season of prayer, my wife and I knew the Lord was speaking to us and we realized we were being called to ORU.

Q. What are some responsibilities in your role?

My ultimate responsibility is to help steward and accomplish ORU’s bold vision. Most importantly, we need to keep a culture of hungry desperation in appealing to the Lord, readying ORU to receive a massive global inheritance on our campus.  The Holy Spirit ultimately calls each student to ORU; our job is to be ready to receive them.

There is an international anointing on the University. My role is to ask: What does the Holy Spirit want us to do next? Where does the Holy Spirit want us to go in the future? I am excited to start this discovery process to see where the Holy Spirit leads us globally.

Q. Why are more students choosing a faith-based education?

Inside each person, there is a God-sized dream, a dream, that when realized and acted upon, has the potential to change the world.  At a faith-based university like ORU, the keys are available to help unlock the deep places of eternity, purpose, and ultimate meaning within each student. Students are asking big questions, and they’re yearning for eternal answers. ORU has the right answers, and students are realizing this, which is why they’re choosing this University.

Q. From your perspective, what separates ORU from other colleges/universities?

In addition to the legacy, passion, and commitment to globalization and international students, ORU’s vision and mission make the University truly unique and special. ORU is the only place in the world that has this distinctive mix of being a global, whole-person, and Spirit-empowered higher education institution. I see this distinctive permeate all areas of the University, its leadership, faculty, staff, and students, presenting a unique option for students and families from all over the world.
