Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University’s Theatre Department isn’t letting the pandemic
prevent it from showcasing its talent during the fall semester. Theatre students will
present a production of Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory via Zoom Webinar on September
17, 18, and 19, 2020, beginning at 7:30pm.
“During this unprecedented time, ORU theatre has found a new way to exist,” said the production’s director Norah Swiney. “We are excited to utilize Zoom to offer this unique perspective of the influence of media and popular opinion in matters of science.”
Radium Girls, set in New Jersey in 1926, tells the story of workers at the U.S. Radium Corporation who fall victim to a mystery illness. Inspired by true events, the story follows Grace Fryer as she fights for her day in court against the goliath U.S. Radium Corporation. As the pressures increase, Grace finds herself in a battle of wills against not only the company that endangered her life, but also her family, friends, and the general public. This historic moment is brought to life in dialogue that is warm, witty, and unwavering in its candidness.
